Legendary Marketer Review (2023): Dave Sharpe Scam?

Are you looking for a Legendary Marketer review? If you want to make money online, you might have heard of Dave Sharpe. But you may wonder if he is a scam.

There are courses out there that give you fake information, claiming that you can make big money with their system or purchasing the tools they recommend, but they’re not worth it.

As someone who is experienced with online marketing, I’m in a good position to share with you everything I know about the program.

As a disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with Legendary Marketer. It means I’m not paid to write this review. So you can rest assured that you will get an honest and unbiased review from me.

At the end of this review, I’ll also tell you the best alternative to Legendary Marketer that has enabled me to make a full-time passive income online.

Legendary Marketer Review – Key Takeaways

  • Course Name: Legendary Marketer
  • Founder: David Sharpe
  • Price: Front-end $30 per month + Numerous Upsells up to $30,000
  • Pros: Good training before the upsells; low price to get started; money-back guarantee
  • Cons: Too many expensive upsells; insufficient training on free traffic methods; intense MLM vibe; lack of success stories
  • Overall Rating: 2/5
  • Verdict: The program offers some affiliate marketing training. But it is designed in the form of an MLM scheme. Therefore, your main benefit will come from promoting their products.

In this Legendary Marketer review, I’m going to cover the following.

What is Legendary Marketer?

David Sharpe’s Legendary Marketer (LM) is a program that teaches internet marketing strategies through digital courses and virtual coaching.

They also offer access to mastermind events to stay current with industry trends. While the program may seem like a great opportunity, it is important to note that it is one of the most expensive training programs available.

The following video by David Sharpe provides an introduction to the program, but keep in mind that it may come across as overly sales-focused.

Who is David Sharpe?

David is the CEO of a company with over ten years of experience in digital marketing.

David Sharpe

He founded Empower Network, a popular digital marketing multi-level marketing company, in 2011.

However, the company ultimately failed due to its focus on making money through advertising the Empower Network.

In 2014, David left Empower Network and started his own business called Duplicate Dave, which is now a part of Legendary Marketer, a brand that David founded.

He used the same MLM concept for promoting and marketing Legendary Marketer.

How does Legendary Marketer help you make money?

Legendary Marketer is a collection of courses that cover four main areas of online business:

  • Affiliate marketing
  • Digital products
  • Coaching and consulting
  • Events and masterminds

The 15-Day Online Business Builder Challenge is the first step in the program and it gives you a basic understanding of online marketing.

After completing the challenge, you can move on to one of the four blueprint upsells for more in-depth training on each of the four business models.

One of the blueprint upsells is the Affiliate Marketing Business Blueprint, which teaches you how to promote Legendary Marketer and other products.

You earn money by referring paying customers to these products, which is known as affiliate marketing.

A lot of successful Legendary Marketer students tend to be affiliates for the program itself, and they can earn big commissions if the people they refer end up buying the upsells.

Commissions can range from 10 to 60% depending on whether you have a basic or pro account.

As an example, if someone buys Legendary Marketer’s $2500 blueprint upsell after your referral, you’ll earn up to $1000.

Members of the Basic plan earn between 10 and 30% of their earnings, while members of the Pro plan earn 40 to 60%.

In most cases, affiliates are responsible for driving traffic to Sharpe’s website, after which their sales team will follow up and make the sale. In return, the inside sales team receives 20% of the commission.

The affiliates are responsible for driving traffic to Sharpe’s website, after which the sales team will follow up and make the sale.

One could say that Legendary Marketer is using an MLM model and teaching affiliate marketing to promote itself.

What’s inside the Legendary Marketer compensation plan?

Basic Affiliates receive a commission rate of 10-30%. As a Pro Affiliate, you will earn commissions ranging from 40-60%.

The following is a list of the products you would receive commissions for

  • Legendary Marketer’s Club – $18 residual for Pro or $9 for Basic
  • Traffic Rolodex – $98.80 for Pro and $24,70 for Basic
  • Affiliate Business Blueprint – $1,000 for Pro and $250 for Basic
  • Digital Products Business Blueprint – $1,000 for Pro and $250 for Basic
  • Coaching and Consulting Business Blueprint – $1,000 for Pro and $250 for Basic
  • Events and Masterminds Business Blueprint – $1,000 for Pro and $250 for Basic
  • Marketer Mastermind – $3,200 for Pro and $800 for Basic
  • Entrepreneur Mastermind – $4,800 for Pro and $480 for Basic

Who is Legendary Marketer for?

You might be thinking about trying out Legendary Marketer’s 15-Day Challenge, but you’re not sure if it’s the right fit for you. Let me give you the rundown.

This challenge is meant for people who want to start an online business, but don’t know where to begin.

But, as someone with a lot of experience in online marketing, I’ll be honest – it’s probably not the best fit for total beginners.

From what I’ve seen, most people who have success with Legendary Marketer already have some knowledge of digital marketing and even an existing audience to promote their products to.

For example, this dude I saw on YouTube has been an affiliate marketer since 2012, and he started promoting Legendary Marketer on his channel in 2020.

And get this – he earned $10,000 a month just from creating videos about it. So, you can see why I’m saying it’s not really for newbies.

And don’t expect you can easily replicate his success. In any MLM, 99% of the downlines are losing money.

Does Legendary Marketer have a good reputation?

There is some controversy surrounding David Sharpe himself.

Over the years, he has built up quite a following on social media:

Empower Network, the company that David helped start up was an MLM, and you know how those can be – the founders usually come out on top while everyone else gets left behind.

And, it’s worth noting that Empower Network’s LinkedIn page seems pretty similar to Legendary Marketer’s.

Empower Network provides all sorts of training materials and services for online marketers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses, and it’s got a pretty big online community for bloggers too.

As in the case of pyramid schemes, Empower Network eventually went bankrupt in 2017.

And, if you haven’t heard, Legendary Marketer also offers courses and consulting for internet biz people.

Even though Legendary Marketer only has one level of commissions, I can’t shake the feeling that it’s still a multi-level marketing scheme.

Especially since a lot of people who’ve made money with it have done so by bringing in new members.

But, I’ve also read that the course itself is actually pretty useful and has good info that can apply to marketing in general, not just David Sharpe’s stuff.

And, one last thing to keep in mind – Legendary Marketer doesn’t have the best rep on BBB.org, with more complaints than reviews. Just a heads up.

Are students getting results?

I did some digging on Legendary Marketer and it’s a bit weird – it’s hard to find any real, concrete examples of students who have made a ton of money.

You know how with other courses, the sales pages are usually full of past students’ earnings and glowing reviews? Yeah, not the case with LM.

The best I could find was a video of one student who said he made $43,000 in affiliate commissions in just 30 days. But that’s pretty much it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKZ40l5P7yM&t=1s

I also heard that LM instructors do live broadcasts to talk about their students’ success stories.

But when I checked out the Facebook Live videos on their page, most of them were either from students who were pretty new to the program and hadn’t made much yet or from students who didn’t give any information about how much they were earning.

So it’s hard to know how successful they actually are.

It’s a bit strange, because there are over 36,000 customers on the LM Facebook page, so you’d think there would be a lot more success stories to go around.

How much does Legendary Marketer cost?

So, there’s this thing called the 15 Day Online Business Builder Challenge that’s the main entry point for a course called Legendary Marketer. It’ll cost you $7 to start and you’ll get access to 15 days of training and some bonuses.

But, to really follow along with the training, you’re gonna need to sign up for some other stuff too, including

  • ClickFunnels, which starts at $97/month
  • An autoresponder (at least $19/month)
  • Paid traffic (which can vary, but expect to spend at least $100/month)
  • A domain (which is $10/year)

Once you finish the 15 days of training, you’ll get invited to join the Legendary Marketer affiliate program.

There are two versions of that

  • the basic one is free and you’ll earn 5-30% commissions
  • or you can upgrade to the Pro version for $29.95/month and earn 20-60% commissions.

And then, there are the upsells. Yup, during the 15 day challenge, you’ll probably be pitched some other Legendary Marketer programs like

  • The Legendary Marketer’s Club (which is $30/month or $179/year)
  • Traffic University (which is $1,497)
  • A bunch of other Business Blueprints that cost $2500 each.

Just keep in mind, if you want to really put what you learn into action and have a chance of making a living, you’ll need to invest at least $2500 a year.

And that’s not even counting the Pro commissions or any upsells. So, be careful not to spend too much and not earn enough in return.

Recommendation: Here’s The Best Alternative

Legendary Marketer Discount?

I just saw a pop-up offering me a 50% discount on the 15-day Challenge, but honestly, it’s not a huge saving. I’d only save like $3.50.

But, on the bright side, I did find out that if you go for the Business Blueprints Starter Package instead of buying each Blueprint individually, you can save a whopping $7,500.

Otherwise, I haven’t come across any other legit discounts for Legendary Marketers.

However, if you’re looking to save some money, you might want to consider getting an annual Legendary Marketer’s Club membership instead of a monthly one.

It’s a lot cheaper in the long run. The monthly plan costs $360 a year, but the annual plan is only $179. So, you do the math.

Refund Policy

The 15-Day Challenge sales page says you can get a full refund within 30 days, but it’s not as simple as it sounds.

From what I’ve seen, there are some conditions to getting your money back and that’s probably why there are a bunch of complaints about Legendary Marketer on BBB.org about refunds.

Sure, some people were able to get their money back without a problem, but others didn’t have such a smooth experience.

Praise for Legendary Marketer

1. The quality of the entry-level products is good

Legendary Marketer’s entry-level products, such as their Insider’s Guide to Affiliate Marketing, are rich with useful information. I thought it would be another meaningless e-book, but I nodded in agreement and thought, “Hey, that’s a good point!”

It provides some information on

  • How to find a niche product
  • How to choose a niche with proven buyers
  • How to build a simple site for your products
  • How to run promotions
  • Scaling secrets

In addition, you will have the opportunity to speak with a David representative for personalized business advice.

Once you sign up, you’ll receive emails promoting other products, all of which have significant value, so try them out

2. Entry prices are low

Some of the larger purchases can be quite costly. But when you break it down, Legendary Marketer may be affordable.

Both the 15-day challenge and the flagship Legendary Marketers Club are affordable at just $7 and $30 per month, respectively.

Criticism of Legendary Marketer

1. Lots of biased reviews from LM’s affiliates

You probably have found some other reviews of Legendary Marketer and all of them are saying good words.

All of them, however, actually receive a large commission if you purchase Legendary Marketer using their links. Therefore, their words are often biased and not trustworthy.

The reviews are merely sales pages that do not inform you about the hidden costs or the difficulty of making money using David Sharpe’s strategies.

They are the super affiliate of Legendary Marketer, meaning they make thousands of affiliate commissions by promoting Legendary Marketer programs.

Should you trust someone who has a conflict of interest and receives huge compensation to “review” a course? No, probably not. It’s not a review, it’s a sale!

Therefore, I recommend reading the reviews of those written by the non-affiliates of Legendary Marketer.

I tried to search for the real user reviews of Legendary Marketer on Trustpilot, which is the most credible review site:

Legendary Marketer Review - Scam or Legit? The Truth Exposed

However, it’s weird to find no reviews at all on Trustpilot. This is unusual for a program that claims to have helped thousands of people succeed in affiliate marketing.

If it’s true, there should be many good ratings there.

2. Too many expensive upsells

After signing up for either the Pro or Basic Affiliate account, there are a lot of upsells that can reach $20,000 or more. That does not include the $30 monthly fee or any special events Legendary Marketer presents.

You’ll have to pay even more if you add on the live events and live mastermind curriculum:

  • Legendary Marketer Mastermind – $8,000
  • Legendary Entrepreneur Mastermind – $12,000

Several thousand dollars can be spent on upsells if you choose to purchase them.

These expensive packages, however, only cover basic Facebook ads, YouTube and Instagram training, which I think can be found for free on YouTube.

If you’re looking for a business opportunity that doesn’t involve all those expensive upsells, you may want to consider my #1 recommended platform.

3. Legendary Marketer is an MLM that promotes itself

All their training, video ads, and swipes are geared towards promoting Legendary Marketer to others.

Pyramid schemes and other scam sites operate this way. Even though Legendary Marketer is not a pyramid scheme, there are some similarities between it and theirs.

Like multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes consist of recruiting distributors for a particular product or service. By recruiting recruits and reaching certain levels, the pyramid scheme offers the opportunity to make money.

Legendary Marketer is not a pyramid scheme. But it works in a similar way by using a simple compensation plan for rewarding its members through multi-level marketing.

I have already stated that the only task you have is to buy the membership and the other upsells, and then you promote it.

You are actually purchasing a license when you purchase that product, which allows you to sell it to others.

If someone who is your sponsor buys a product and you have not purchased the product, you will not get the commission.

For instance, let’s say you purchase a $30 “Legendary Marketer Club” membership, then recruit a person who buys a $30 membership as well; you will receive $18 per month from that person for as long as they remain active.

If this person takes it a step further and purchases the Legendary Builder Masterclass package ($2,500 one-time), then you will not earn a commission since you have not purchased that package.

If you don’t have that license, you cannot sell it.

Therefore, you are tempted to buy more advanced products regardless of whether the training in these products is relevant to your business or not.

However, there is no guarantee that you can sell them later.

4. Lack of successful stories of students

While Legendary Marketer claims that a lot of their students see results from the training, there is no verified evidence to show this.

You may see some reviews posting screenshots from their Facebook group as proof of the success stories. But there is no way to verify if those are true results or not.

Also, some students who joined Legendary Marketer are not beginners, and they already have a well-established website before joining. So their results might not be attributed to the training of Legendary Marketer.

The super affiliates are simply joining Legendary Marketer’s courses in order to earn huge commissions. Neither of them intends to learn any secret strategies from Legendary Marketer.

Moreover, while Legendary Marketer teaches people how to make money with affiliate sites, most of their revenue comes from their courses instead of affiliate marketing. That makes the whole thing not convincing at all.

5. LM only focuses on paid traffic

Its training on SEO is almost absent, unlike all other affiliate marketing courses I’ve seen.

However, according to statistics, Google is the top source of internet traffic in most industries, generating over half of it. Combined, Google drives 8 times as much traffic as all social networks.

Most top blogs receive 66.47 percent of their traffic from search engines, composed of 99.77% organic traffic and 0.23% paid traffic.

Therefore, in a course about affiliate marketing, you would expect to cover Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Legendary Marketer, however, only emphasizes paid traffic methods. It makes sense since they want you to help them quickly promote their products through Facebook ads.

The whole thing is even more sarcastic when you consider that their super affiliates who promote Legendary Marketer actually use SEO to generate organic traffic.

6. LM tells a lie about their program: anyone can earn money with it

According to Legendary Marketer, everyone can make money using their training program. But I don’t think so. It’s for those who can afford to invest at least a few thousand dollars more.

Your email list must be large, you must have a YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers, or you must have an authority blog.

If not, it will be difficult for you to promote its products. But you can only make money with MLM that way.

Even worse, I’ve seen two programs MOBE and Digital Altitude shut down by the FTC.

They were also high-ticket affiliate programs and used the MLM business model along with affiliate marketing.

Legendary Marketer, though unrelated to MOBE and Digital Altitude, has some commonalities that may make it a much riskier business.

Even if it doesn’t get shut down, it still will get a lot of negativity from the market.

Take the example of Empower Network; this program has been closed down using a similar business model to Legendary Marketer.

7. You need a license before promoting Legendary Marketer

If you wish to promote any product on Legendary Marketer, you will need to submit an application, which can be denied. Most of the time, you have to buy it in order to sell it.

Let’s say you have purchased the Legendary Marketer club package for $30 but are unable to afford the next package of $2,500.

So now that you have advertised on Facebook and have many leads, some of these leads choose to upgrade to higher packages…what’s next?

You won’t get paid for products for which you haven’t bought a license. I find that a bit unfair.

It is also a requirement that you buy the product, whether you like it or not because you risk losing commission if you do not.

Even if you don’t plan to organize an offshore event or start a coaching or consulting business, you have to buy them.

Doesn’t this seem like a pyramid scheme as well?

8. It might be another Empower Network

The Empower Network is an MLM that misleads people by promising a high commission for a monthly or annual fee that promotes online marketing products.

The Empower Network has been launched by the founder of Legendary Marketer David Sharpe and David Wood.

The company has also set up personalized blogs for Indian bloggers to promote its network. But they are just using blogging as a front for their MLM/network marketing.

Google search results: Is Empower Network a Scam?

Empower Network gets a lot of attention because they offer “100% commissions”.

Truth be told, you receive 100% of only some of the commissions, and most of what you earn goes to your upline, i.e. the person who referred you.

You’re then encouraged to upgrade, which is just another way of saying “pay more money” after you’ve joined. You must possess the packages if you want to earn big commissions.

Typical of an MLM scheme, you pay a small entry fee and later increase your level of membership to unlock larger commissions.

Don’t forget! Empower Network requires you to refer more people to make money. Essentially, you are a door-to-door salesperson.

Ultimately, the Empower Network failed. It ended rather spectacularly, too, with Wood’s public breakdown.

I wish you good luck if you’re interested in joining Legendary Marketer, since it might be just another Empower Network under a different name.

9. Poor Refund Policy

There is no free trial for Legendary Marketer. Even worse, only the initial fee paid comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

There is only a 3-day window for canceling subsequent upsells.

Legendary Marketer refund policy

But joining Legendary Marketer can easily set you back a thousand dollars. There is a much higher risk of becoming dissatisfied with the course.

You won’t be able to get back your hard-earned money even if the course doesn’t live up to their promise.

Recommendation: Here’s The Best Alternative

Is Legendary Marketer a scam?

I cannot say Legendary Marketer is a scam. Their course does offer some value. If you buy their courses, you can learn how to do affiliate marketing for sure.

However, people only join Legendary Marketer because of the huge affiliate commissions they offer.

Only advanced marketers can benefit from the system of Legendary Marketers.

Because they are the top affiliates with well-established websites or lots of subscribers on their YouTube channels, their screenshots cannot be taken as proof that Legendary Marketer works.

It is unlikely you will see a newbie earning big online who is just getting started with Legendary Marketer.

There is really no reason to go for Legendary Marketer and get involved in MLM when there are other better alternatives, which are much cheaper, but offer you much more value and can help you succeed faster.

Should you join Legendary Marketer?

Legendary Marketer is not a program I can recommend in good conscience, especially when there are better options available.

Though the program contains some decent teaching and ideas, nothing is discussed in-depth, and its SEO training is seriously lacking. For most of the topics covered, you can easily find better training online for free.

Legendary Marketer is mostly a multilevel marketing program, so their concern for the quality of the courses is minimal. It is possible to keep the show going as long as you help them recruit more students.

So I don’t think that you can really build a profitable website from scratch by using Legendary Marketer’s paid traffic strategies.

There is a reason why there are no success stories or positive reviews about Legendary Marketer on TrustPilot.

Make sure you are careful if you want to sell Legendary Marketer’s products because they might disappear, like Empower Network.

Is there a better alternative?

So what’s the best alternative to Legendary Marketer? My #1 recommended platform is called Wealthy Affiliate.

Wealthy Affiliate is an all-in-one platform for building your affiliate marketing business from scratch.

When you join Wealthy Affiliate, you can get access to the first-class web hosting service, keyword research tools, community support, comprehensive training, writing tools, and other software to help you build an online business step-by-step.

You can register a free account with Wealthy Affiliate, which enables you to get started with affiliate marketing right away without paying a penny.

If you like the platform, you can then upgrade to the premium membership to get access to everything on the platform. There are no upsells afterward.

But How Much Can You Earn with Wealthy Affiliate?

A 21-year-old student from Wealthy Affiliate was able to earn $7,395 in just 1 week, which means he made more than $1k a day…all while applying what is taught inside Wealthy Affiliate.

Wealthy Affiliate testimonial

Compared with Legendary Marketer, Wealthy Affiliate has a much longer history, which has been established for 15 years and there are many success stories in the past decade.

Actually, Wealthy Affiliate has more than a million members so far, so you can see how popular this platform is.

To give you more examples, here are some of the other inspiring success stories of Wealthy Affiliate members.

If you don’t trust my words, you can go to Trustpilot to see what the members have to say:

Wealthy Affiliate rating on Trustpilot

At the time of writing, Wealthy Affiliate is rated 4.9 out of 5, which is excellent. It’s incredible to get such a high rating with 539 reviews.

If there are only two or three good reviews, you may say they are fake reviews. But you cannot fake it when there are more than 500 reviews there. Remember, Trustpilot has a very intelligent system to detect fake reviews.

Where to Join Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate has a very simple pricing scheme. It has a free and premium membership. The premium membership only costs $49/month or $395/year.

If you want to feel about Wealthy Affiliate, you can sign up for the free starter membership here (no credit card required). You can select to be a free member with no time limit.

And as a starter member, you can get instant access to the community, live chat, over 500 training modules, 2 classrooms, networking, commenting, 1 free website, and access to the keyword tool.

You can enjoy all these values without paying a penny.

So I strongly recommend you register a free account and see it yourself.

  1. Legendary Marketer is a MLM scheme! Don’t fall for this big scam.
People who join Legendary Marketer can only make money by recruiting people to join the same program.
Legendary Marketer even requires you to pay for the program that you want to promote, which is not a typical affiliate program.
Normal affiliate programs will not require you to pay, but not Legendary Marketer.
And all their courses are super expensive. The creator only cares about their own profit but not the students!
So avoid Legendary Marketer at all costs!

  2. Legendary Marketer is just a cult of ppl copy and pasting all the same information over and over by hiding the real information behind “this is a great side hustle” bullshit.
so many times I have seen very badly stated information of works such as, video transcription, book reading, voice acting, video game / app testing, answering question by just “googling”, just watching video or searching the web.
    etc… etc… etc..
Always stating oh you can make X$/H when its fact you could technically do if you are very good or the high x$/h is grossly misinterpreted as a “job”, like testing app, yea, technically you can be paid 30$/h but its usually only 30 minutes and maybe 3 or 4 times a year…

  4. Actually I have just finished the 15 day online builder business challenge. I don’t know if its just luck or good timing but I only paid $1 for it. Was very hesitant on getting the $2500 upsell on the Business Blueprints but decided not to as it was too expensive even though I have the money. Now after reading this review and going through the challenge, I can safely say it is an MLM pyramid scheme. Thank goodness I saved $2500.
