This course contains a lot of training videos regarding affiliate marketing, search engine optimization, and other related topics.

Who Is Matt Diggity?

Matt Diggity was an electric engineer before starting his own business online. Due to his job, where he sometimes worked more than 60 hours per week, Matt suffered a nervous breakdown.

matt diggity

At that point, Matt became intrigued with SEO and affiliate marketing and became addicted to the concept of making money online. After years of trying, Matt was able to break through and discover something incredible.

Matt has built several test websites while he was learning SEO and affiliate marketing. In most cases, Matt earned some profits from these sites, but he did not have the time to run them, so he decided to sell them.

Then Matt realized that flipping profitable websites are a lucrative business, so he decided to take it on.

Today, Matt Diggity has created The Affiliate Lab course.

In addition to the course and SEO services he offers, Matt is a YouTuber as well. Matt’s YouTube channel currently has about 20K subscribers at the time of this Affiliate Lab review.

In addition to Associates Lab, Matt Diggity offers his services on a few websites. One of these sites is called Authority. Builders, where he and his team sell backlinks to other people to build authority for their websites.

All in all, Matt Diggity appears to be a legitimate SEO expert and online entrepreneur. We’ll continue to review his training course to see whether it’s a scam or not.

How does Affiliate Lab Work?

Affiliate Lab is a system that claims to provide you with all the tools you need to rank higher in affiliate niches.

After you purchase the course, you will be given access to over 160 videos that will show you how to select your niche, create templates, and determine the keyword in your domain name.

It is possible to ask Matt himself, as well as other associates of Affiliate Lab, if you are not sure you are doing the right thing, through the Facebook group created specifically for Affiliate Lab members.

This course contains several training modules in which Matt demonstrates how to master the process step-by-step. Let’s take a look at each module to see how it works.

Module 1 – Affiliate Lab Introduction

Basically, this is your typical “welcome to the course” greeting. In addition, you will learn about Matt’s general SEO methodology. There is also an overview of affiliate marketing.

Module 2 – Niche Selection

In this module, you’ll learn all about how to select the right niche for you. Matt will share how to choose the right niche, how to analyze niches (of course the ones in which profits can be realized), what niche sites are and what authority sites are, and how to avoid bad niches.

Module 3 – Onsite SEO

In this module, you’ll discover how to select a domain and host, conduct keyword research, choose a site structure, and write compelling content that can definitely position you well in high-competition niches.

A lot of people overcomplicate niche selection, which results in covering a hundred different topics simultaneously. The key is picking a niche and building your authority around it.

Module 4 – Off-site SEO

To summarize, offsite SEO is all the actions you undertake away from your website. Link-building is essentially what it is all about.

Matt will give you his link building blueprint along with videos in this section of the course.

BONUS #1: The Beginner’s Lab

You will be able to access instructions on how to create your own website (step-by-step) and get your own WordPress account, where you will be able to get your domain name and select your website host.

BONUS #2: Exclusive Facebook Group.

Here you can get answers to all of your SEO questions from the Affiliate Lab members, especially the top affiliate marketers.

As a result, you will learn more ways to make your career as an SEO successful.

BONUS #3: Conversion Rate Optimization Masterclass

It is possible in this way to increase your affiliate income overnight by making small changes that can have an impact on your sales.

BONUS #4: Featured Snippets Masterclass

Matt will cover the steps on how to take away featured snippets from your competitors and the factors that make it difficult to obtain your own featured snippet.

BONUS #5: Authority Blueprint

In the Affiliate Lab website description, it is stated that this bonus will give you a ‘definitive blueprint’ on how to dominate Google by converting your niche site into an authority site.

BONUS #6: Website Flipping Masterclass

This masterclass teaches you how to maximize your profits from your site to the tune of 32x-40x. Gregory Elfrink of Empire Flippers reveals these insider keys.

BONUS #7: Outreach Masterclass

Matt’s method for building links will be taught to you through this method. Additionally, you will find out how to do and manage outreach in a creative manner to get a flood of links to your site.

BONUS #8: The Kitchen Sink + Medic Buster + Penalty Recovery

With this bonus, Matt will show you three blueprints he uses to unstick sites, deal with new update requirements, and protect your site from algorithm penalties.

BONUS #9: Affiliate Email Marketing Masterclass

As an affiliate, this bonus might help you build a safety net around your site. Additionally, it improves the odds that your e-mail will be delivered, read, and acted upon.

12 Reasons Why I Don’t Recommend Affiliate Lab

1.The Good Reviews are Written by Affiliate Lab’s Affiliates

You probably have found some other reviews of Affiliate Lab and all of them are saying good words.

All of them, however, actually receive a large commission if you purchase Affiliate Lab using their links. Therefore, their words are often biased and not trustworthy.

The reviews are merely sales pages that do not inform you about the hidden costs or the difficulty of making money using Matt’s strategies.

When you search Affiliate Lab review, you might see a website called eBiz Facts ranking the first place on Google:

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

Be careful! They are the affiliates of Affiliate Lab, meaning they make thousands of affiliate commissions by promoting Affiliate Lab courses. You can see that eBiz Facts gives one star to a lot of affiliate marketing programs and gives Affiliate Lab almost a full score.

Niall Doherty, the founder of eBiz Facts cares only about how much commission he can earn to support his laptop lifestyle and travel expenses.

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

He is not going to reveal any facts. If a programme gives him a higher commission, he will give it a higher score. On the other hand, programs sold at a low price will receive a lower score from him.

Affiliate Lab is sold for $997, so the blogger can earn almost $500 commission (since the commission rate is usually 50%) if you use the link provided by him to buy the course.

Besides, the 21 votes are very likely to be fabricated (see screenshot below)!

If you don’t believe me, you can try giving the course a star rating in the article and you will find that the score is still 4.6!

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

That’s just a sales tactic!

Should you trust someone who has a conflict of interest and receives huge compensation to “review” a course? No, probably not. It’s not a review, it’s a sale!

Therefore, I recommend reading the reviews of those written by the non-affiliates of Affiliate Lab.

I tried to search for the real user reviews of Affiliate Lab on Trustpilot, which is the most credible review site:

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

However, it’s weird to find no reviews at all on Trustpilot. This is unusual for a course that claims to have helped thousands of people succeed in affiliate marketing.

If it’s true, there should be many good ratings there.

2. Building An Authority Site Takes Too Much Time and Effort

Affiliate Lab claims to show you the secrets of building an authority site.

An authority site is a website with a lot of content. So you can imagine how much effort and time it takes to write a blog post. After working for a year, your so-called authority website might not earn you a penny.

In addition, if you have a full-time job, it is difficult to build an authority site as a side-hustle. For a bit of progress, you need at least ten hours per week.

This is a “get rich SLOW” scheme. In the next few years, it will be impossible for you to earn enough money to quit your job.

In this era, things change so quickly, speed is the key to business. Slow speed won’t allow you to beat your competitors.

Affiliate Lab claims you can build an authority site easily using their blueprint, but it actually implies that you can compete directly with the big brands. Do you think that’s possible?

There are teams of content creators at big companies. Nobody has more than 24 hours in the day, so no matter how hard you work, it’s not likely that you’ll win the big competitions.

3. The Course Lacks The Important Details For Beginners

You will find the course difficult to follow if you are new to online marketing. There is an overwhelming amount of content in the course.

Many strategies are taught, but you don’t know which one is best and which one you ought to follow.

In addition, many of the small details are not covered in the course, even though they are crucial for newbies. You still have to do a lot of research on your own even after paying so much money for the course.

4. Insufficient Community Support

If you join Affiliate Lab’s course, there is only a private Facebook group. Most of the time, the group is not helpful and your questions will be ignored and remain unresolved. You may feel helpless especially if you are just a beginner.

I have a better recommendation for you in the later section, where you can get community support from millions of members. There is always someone there to answer your question around the clock.

5. The Course is Too Expensive

Affiliate Lab costs $997, which is very expensive for most people who are still exploring how to make money online.

If you want to start an affiliate site, you also have other costs like web hosting, keyword research tools and other software or plugins to add the necessary functionality to your website.

So in total, you may have to invest $3K to $5K to build your affiliate marketing business at the beginning.

After all, Affiliate Lab is merely a course. It’s not an all-in-one platform that gives you everything you need to build an affiliate site from scratch.

Investing in a course when you have yet to make a penny is not a wise decision. It’s risky to invest thousands of dollars, while you are not sure it works or not.

In contrast, a better alternative that I will talk about later is much cheaper. You will get comprehensive training, domain registration, web hosting, writing tools etc with a low subscription fee (the first month is just $19!)

It’s much cheaper and easier to get started when compared with Affiliate Lab.

Actually, the price you pay for Affiliate Lab is enough for you to build up to 10 affiliate sites on my #1 recommended platform for 2 years or more! It’s a much better deal.

6. Lack of Successful Stories of Students

While Affiliate Lab claims that a lot of their students see results from the training, there is no verified evidence to show this.

You may see some reviews posting screenshots from their Facebook group as proof of the success stories. But there is no way to verify if those are true results or not.

Also, some students who joined Affiliate Lab’s course are not beginners, and they already have a well-established website before joining. So their results might not be attributed to the training of Affiliate Lab. That means even if some do get results, it’s unlikely that you can do the same if you are a complete newbie.

Moreover, while Affiliate Lab teaches people how to make money with affiliate sites, most of their revenue comes from their courses instead of affiliate marketing. That makes the whole thing not convincing at all.

Affiliate Lab owns the website Authority. Builders, where they sell you SEO services. Since Matt claims to be an SEO expert, do you expect him to generate a lot of free traffic for this website?

I expected so. However, when I checked the traffic of the website, I was so disappointed. Here’s the screenshot of the traffic the website gets:

On his website, Neil Patel offers SEO services as well. Let’s see how many visitors his website receives.

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

Do you really believe Matt is good at SEO when his website can’t even reach a number of 1000 monthly visitors?

7. The Training is Not Suitable For Beginners

Affiliate Lab’s course focuses on building authority sites, which means you need to get backlinks from other authority sites.

When your website is new and you aren’t an influencer in the niche, who would give you a backlink?

If you contact thousands of websites, you will probably get all the rejections. A month of effort is worthless if all you get are a couple of backlinks.

Additionally, you have to invest in the tool for sending cold emails, which would cost you an additional 30-40 dollars per month. Cold emails are likely to end up in the spam box.

Gmail, for example, considers cold emails to be junk mail. You won’t even get a single subscription!

Therefore, my #1 recommended platform doesn’t encourage begging for backlinks to build an authority site.

Instead, it will teach you how to target low competition keywords to drive more traffic and hence get sales as soon as possible. And as your site gets more traffic, other bloggers will be very happy to give you backlinks automatically.

8. No Technical Support

You will probably require technical assistance sometimes if you are new to online marketing. Affiliate Lab, however, only offers courses, not technical support.

Therefore, if you encounter technical problems with your website, you have no one to contact. Newbies in online marketing should be concerned about this.

After paying so much for the course, you will feel helpless when you expect to receive all kinds of support.

My #1 recommended platform is different. You will get 24/7 technical support with your website.

They have a technical team standing by any time to help you when you encounter technical problems. It’s really like having hired a technical team. Also, there is a community of a million members there to help you out when you have questions.

9. Affiliate Lab Doesn’t Provide You With Any Tools

Affiliate Lab doesn’t provide you with the tools for building an affiliate site.

For example, the keyword research tool is one of the most important tools in affiliate marketing. A keyword research tool like Ahrefs can cost at least $99/month.

The reason why they don’t include any tools in the course is that developing the tools is expensive.

Moreover, without providing you with any free tools, they can recommend relevant tools to you and earn affiliate commissions when you purchase those tools using their links.

By doing so, they can make more money from you.

My #1 recommended platform is different, you will get a free keyword research tool after you join. They create and develop the tool themselves, which are pretty advanced and easy to use. All are included in one single subscription fee. No upsells at all.

Also,  My #1 recommended platform’s web hosting quality is comparable to some big names like WPEngine. The website speed is highly optimised when hosting on their servers.

10. Affiliate Lab Doesn’t Have A Huge Volume of Organic Traffic

The website of Affiliate Lab is https://affiliatelab.im/

Upon looking it up, you will find that it is nothing more than a sales page. There isn’t even a blog section, which is crucial to SEO because blogs can generate free traffic to a website.

The founder Matt claims to teach people to build an authority site and drive traffic through Search Engine Optimization.

However, his own website only has around 150 visitors every month. This is a joke when compared with other SEO experts on the market.

So how does Affiliate Lab reach a wide audience? I guess it’s because Matt has spent a lot of money on running Facebook ads. If that’s so, it’ll be sarcastic because they are teaching you how to drive traffic by SEO.

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

Think about it, Affiliate Lab’s website has been established for a long time.

If you learn from them, how many visitors can you expect for your website? Probably 1/10 or even less. Websites with such traffic volume are impossible to make a full-time income.

11. Link Building is Time-Consuming and Risky

It’s true that backlinks can boost your Google ranking, but proactive link building is dangerous.

Although Affiliate Lab teaches the white hat technique to build links, it might still breach Google’s rules in the future.

Google changes its algorithm or rules from time to time, so techniques that seem legit today might become a violation.

Even worse, Affiliate Lab is pitching you their link-building services on their website Authority. Builders.

Prices are so expensive, even the cheapest plan will set you back $500 per month!

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

But Google states clearly that paying for links that pass PageRank is against the Webmaster Guidelines and could harm a site’s ranking in search results.

And some techniques taught by Affiliate Lab are actually not a white hat, which means your website might be penalised by Google. If you are not penalised yet, it’s just because of luck.

Here’s an article of Google which talk about link schemes:

Affiliate Lab Review - Is Matt Diggity's Course a Scam?

In another word, your website might be penalised by Google if you pay for the link building campaigns from Affiliate Lab.

If you are not penalised yet, it’s purely because of luck.

Once Google penalises your website, all your website content will be ranked lower, which will destroy all your traffic. All your time and efforts invested in the website will be wasted. It’s really a disaster.

Moreover, as Google’s algorithm becomes smarter because of artificial intelligence, the importance of backlinks is reducing. Google understands that backlinks are easy to manipulate.

Google is trying to focus on the relevancy and quality of content when deciding which one to rank higher.

So I personally think that Affiliate Lab’s backlink approach and high-ticket service is against the trend. It might not work at all a few years later.

That’s why my #1 recommended platform does not encourage proactive link building. There is no reason to take the risk and do something that might go outdated a few years later.

Although relevant and high-quality backlinks are helpful for ranking higher on Google, they are not essential to creating an authority site.

You will naturally receive backlinks from other websites as you create more quality content and rank for more keywords. As time goes by, your domain authority will increase gradually.

It is not necessary to actively seek links from other websites. Google doesn’t encourage this practice because actively begging for backlinks is trying to game the algorithm of Google. Google is getting smarter to spot this out and penalise websites.

Using cold emails to request backlinks isn’t a good strategy. If you are begging for backlinks without any compensation, you will probably not get any. Most of the time, they offer to charge you hundreds of dollars for a backlink, which is not worth anything.

12. There is No Free Trial Or Money-Back Guarantee

There is no free trial for Affiliate Lab’s course. You have to pay a thousand dollars upfront to get started. The risk is much higher in case you don’t like the course or don’t feel good about it.

Even worse, they don’t offer a money-back guarantee. You won’t be able to get back your hard-earned money even if the course doesn’t live up to their promise.

However, my #1 recommended platform has a free membership plan, where you can get access to the first level training and even build a free website.

If you like it and feel good to go further, you can then upgrade to the premium plan at a 50% discount for the first month. So you don’t need to worry about making a bad investment.

Recommendation: Here’s The Best Alternative

Is Affiliate Lab a Scam?

Affiliate Lab is not a scam. Their course does offer some value. If you buy their courses, you can learn how to do affiliate marketing for sure.

However, I am not a fan of their method, building an authority site is no easy task even using Matt’s blueprint.

In fact, as mentioned earlier, even Matt himself is not building an authority site to drive traffic for the Affiliate Lab course. If the teacher can’t make it, how can the students?

In most cases, the process of creating quality content for an authority site takes years. That’s why authority sites are usually built by a team rather than an individual.

When you work alone, it’s not possible to create an authority site within a year or a month. That means in many years, you cannot even earn back the money you invested in their expensive courses. The payback period is super long indeed.

Also, Affiliate Lab is making the most money from selling their courses, but not affiliate marketing. That makes the whole thing unconvincing. You should always learn from the practitioner, meaning someone who has the most success in what they teach.

Moreover, there is no reason to go for Affiliate Lab when there are other better alternatives, which are much cheaper, but offer you much more value and can help you succeed faster.

I will tell more about my #1 recommended platform in the next section.

Recommendation: Here’s The Best Alternative

A 21-year old student from Wealthy Affiliate was able to earn $7,395 in just 1 week, which means he made more than $1k a day…all while applying what is taught inside Wealthy Affiliate.

Affiliate Lab Review

Compared with Affiliate Lab, Wealthy Affiliate has a much longer history, which has been established for 15 years and there are many success stories in the past decade.

Actually, Wealthy Affiliate has more than a million members so far, so you can see how popular this platform is.

To give you more examples, here are some of the other inspiring success stories of Wealthy Affiliate members.
