Sell The Trend Review (2023): Scam or Legit? Exposed!

Sell The Trend is a product research tool for dropshippers that helps them identify potential winning products.

But does it really allow you to take the lead over your competitors and ensure that you are selling products that are in demand or predicted to be in trend very soon? Could Sell The Trend be a scam that doesn’t guarantee success?

At first glance, it appears to be an excellent tool. But I’m afraid it’s a scam. I have therefore conducted some in-depth research on Sell The Trend.

After all, dropshipping can be a lot easier if you can find a hot product on Facebook quickly and easily.

Since I’m not affiliated to Sell The Trend, you can rest assured that my review is genuine and unbiased.

At the end of this article, I’ll also tell you an alternative business model that is much better than dropshipping.

Below is what I’ll cover in the review of Sell The Trend.

What is Sell The Trend?

Sell The Trend is a research tool that allows people to find hot-selling products to dropship. By analyzing the sales data from AliExpress, high-traffic Shopify stores, and trending products on Amazon, it will identify the potentially winning products for you.

Apart from that, you can also use Sell The Trend to import products to your Shopify store, build a targeted audience for your Facebook ads and create Facebook video ads.

If you’re not familiar with dropshipping, there is a simple training program that teaches you the basics.

With all the product research tools they have inside, it makes dropshipping a lot easier.

They also have almost eight million products available to you.

How does Sell The Trend work?

Once you login to your member account, you will see the dashboard below.

Sell The Trend dashboard

As mentioned earlier, if you are new to dropshipping, you might spend some time going through the training videos.

The Nexus

The Nexus Explorer area consists of Product and Stores Discover. It shows you the hot products available which can be listed in order by Nexus Rank. Other similar categories include trending products and products in rising demand.

To give you more insider information, there is a subsection on winning stores. Also, you can check if there are similar products on Amazon. That way, you will know if there’s any competition from the vendors on Amazon and how much they are selling for. This can give you some reference on price setting.

After all, when customers see your Facebook ads, most of them will go and check on Amazon to see if they can find a similar product at a cheaper price.

There are lots of filers you can apply, including:

  • Category
  • Niche
  • Price
  • Orders
  • Product shipped from within the USA
  • Product that has a video
  • Countries with the most sales

For even more product data, you can click on the product image and a pop-up box will show up like the one displayed below.

Some of the data include the number of Shopify stores selling the item, number of orders, product cost, selling price, profit margin, etc.

You can also check Shopify Store selling the item, AliExpress suppliers, Amazon product page, Facebook search results, etc.

Explorers

This feature allows you to get a list of the most trending products from AliExpress, Amazon, and some Shopify stores.

You can narrow down the search results by applying the filtering options and importing the products that have the potential for tremendous growth into your store.

Sell The Trend Features

The SellTheTrend software offers you more than just product research and store spying capabilities. Here are some ways to use these features to uplift your dropshipping business.

1. Store Intelligence

Want to check out how a Shopify store is doing? Just pop in their link into Store Intelligence and you’ll be able to see some pretty cool info about their biz. Here’s what you can expect to see:

  • A list of their top-performing products
  • Monthly visitors
  • Average product cost
  • Monthly orders
  • Monthly revenue
  • Monthly expenditure on Shopify apps
  • What kind of tracking they’re using
  • Whether or not they have social media accounts

Now, keep in mind that this data is just a starting point. It’ll give you an idea of whether a store’s products might be worth testing out on your own online store.

But if you really want to get a deeper understanding of what’s working for them, you’ll need to do some additional research on your own.

2. Filter By Product Videos

Check out the videos for products from Aliexpress sellers in the Quick Links section if you want to get a better idea of what you’re buying.

If you come across a product that looks pretty cool, solves a problem, and seems to be selling well, it might be worth testing it out.

3. Audience Builder

You might have come across a few lists of interests for Facebook ads targeting in the Nexus section, like “brands, magazines, public figures” and so on. But, some lists don’t show up and I don’t know why.

If that’s the case, don’t worry, you can easily find the best targeting options by heading to the Audience Builder under the Tools section and doing some quick manual research.

Also, did you know that Facebook owns Instagram? So, you can run ads on Instagram from the same dashboard as Facebook ads.

But, here’s something interesting, Snapchat ads haven’t been integrated into the dashboard yet. I’m not sure why that is.

4. Video Ad Creator

Sell The Trend provides you with a basic video ad creator which allows you to create Facebook video ads from AliExpress images.

It’s easy to use, simply enter the product URL and the images will be imported from AliExpress. After that, you can add some banner text on the top and bottom, together with some background music. The last step is to click on create your video which will be generated in a couple of minutes.

However, it can’t help you create exceptional video ads that look fancy and attractive to the audience on Facebook. If you really use the videos created by Sell The Trend, it’s likely that the conversion rate will be extremely low.

5. Engagement Calculator

I wasn’t a fan of the Engagement feature. You can only check the engagement rate for one post at a time, not the whole account. Honestly, I think Phlanx is a better option for that, even though it’s a paid tool.

Keep in mind though, likes, comments, and followers still need to be looked at to make sure the engagement is legit. Overall, the Engagement Calculator tool isn’t super helpful for me, so I’d rather just stick to the features that are actually useful.

6. SellTheTrend Chrome Extension

SellTheTrend’s Chrome plugin is a bit different than Oberlo’s. While Oberlo has a Chrome extension for searching for dropship products, SellTheTrend’s extension is just a button to import products from Aliexpress into your SellTheTrend import list.

I’ll explain more about why that’s helpful later, but I think SellTheTrend could have made their Chrome extension even better by adding features like the ability to track Facebook ads, like Ecomhunt‘s ADHUNTER Chrome extension does.

7. Aliexpress Product Importer & Manager

If you’re looking to import products from AliExpress and manage them on your Shopify store, you can definitely use Oberlo.

But, just keep in mind that adding another program can slow down your site’s loading performance. Plus, Oberlo does have its limitations. In my opinion, a better option is using Dropified

But, now there’s a new player in town – SellTheTrend. This platform has the capability to import products from AliExpress and manage orders built right in, so you don’t have to worry about adding another program and slowing down your site.

Plus, SellTheTrend’s order management feature is top-notch and outperforms Oberlo. If you’re looking for an easy solution, the SellTheTrend Chrome addon is definitely worth checking out.

8. SellTheTrend Feature Updates

One of the things I really enjoyed about SellTheTrend is that they consistently roll out updates. As a member, you’ll be able to take advantage of new features and bug fixes on a regular basis.

On the other hand, I’ve noticed that Dropship Spy still hasn’t addressed some issues that I brought to their team’s attention a year ago.

Overall, I like regular updates and SellTheTrend is providing that.

9. Coaching & Custom Stores

Are you thinking about investing in SellTheTrend’s coaching and custom storefront development services? Let me give you my thoughts on that.

Coaching:

Honestly, I don’t think one-on-one coaching is necessary right now. If you’re not getting enough out of the YouTube training videos, you might want to consider investing in a paid Shopify dropshipping course instead.

Custom Stores:

I’ve checked out a few examples of their custom stores and in my opinion, they’re not the best choice. Creating a Shopify dropshipping store is so easy that even a complete beginner can do it in just a day or two. So, I suggest you develop your store yourself instead of hiring a third party to do it for you.

Basically, you should only think about paying for special features that aren’t essential for your dropshipping business at the moment.

How much does Sell The Trend cost?

After the 7-day free trial, Sell The Trend’s membership usually costs $99.97 per month, but right now they’re offering a pretty sweet deal. They’ve got a 60% discount on their monthly subscription plan and a 67% discount on their annual plan.

Here’s the thing though, if you’re on a budget and can’t afford to pay for an entire year at once, don’t worry. Paying for the monthly membership will only cost you an extra $7 per month.

So, you can still get in on the deal without feeling like you’re wasting a ton of money.

Refund Policy

If you decide to cancel your annual subscription, they’ll give you your money back. But if you’re on a monthly plan, you’ll have to finish out the month before you can get a refund.

But don’t worry, if you cancel within the first week, it’s totally risk-free and you won’t be charged at all. And if you decide to cancel later on, just make sure you do it before the next billing date and you won’t have to pay any penalties.

Just keep in mind that if you cancel, all your SellTheTrend info will be deleted, but your Shopify shop and items will stay intact.

Any Discount Code?

You won’t find any extra coupon codes on SellTheTrend. But don’t worry, they’ve already got discounts from 60-67% for early adopters built into their offers.

Just a heads up, though, since this is a special offer for the launch, the prices may go up later on. So, if you want to save some cash, now’s the time to do it.

Sell The Trend Pros

There are a lot of tools and features offered by SellTheTrend, and I understand you might be confused. In my opinion, they’re not well structured, despite being structured.

Now let’s talk about how SellTheTrend can benefit your dropshipping business.

1. Discover the hottest products

In the Nexus section, you’ll find tons of analysis data you can use to make informed decisions about which products to sell. The best part? You’ll never waste your money on a bad product again. I love that you can see not only the order trends, but also the store-adding trends for a particular product. This way, you can tell if a product is a dud even if lots of Shopify stores are adding it.

2. Create engaging ads

SellTheTrend’s Video Creator tool is a game-changer when it comes to creating engaging ads for Facebook and Instagram. You can easily make videos that will grab your audience’s attention, without having to pay an arm and a leg to an exclusive video ad supplier. At least $40 per video ad is a thing of the past!

3. USA Dropshipping

SellTheTrend has a feature called Nexus that allows you to filter products by USA or European warehouses. This is super helpful because since the pandemic hit in 2020, people want their stuff faster and shipping from Chinese warehouses can get pretty pricey. However, keep in mind that the selection of products may be limited.

But, don’t worry if you don’t find what you’re looking for in Nexus, because SellTheTrend also has a section called CJDropshipping. Here, all the products are sourced from their website, which means your customers will get their orders super quick.

4. Streamlined order management

Using its Aliexpress product importer Chrome extension and its inbuilt order fulfillment tool, you no longer need to use Oberlo.

Its actual order processing speed is also much faster than Oberlo’s. I’m sure you don’t want to spend your whole day on the computer processing orders every 60 seconds. If you start getting more orders, this little time can add up quickly.

Sell The Trend Cons

1. Average store research

If you’re an intermediate or advanced dropshipper, SellTheTrend’s store research tools can give you some valuable data. But, if you’re just starting out and don’t have much experience with creating Facebook ads or product page layouts, you might find the tools a bit lacking.

2. Pricey membership

Even though SellTheTrend could be useful for your dropshipping business, the subscription cost might be a bit steep, especially if you’re just starting out. I mean, who isn’t struggling to make ends meet these days? If you’re a student or recently lost your job, it might be hard to afford this tool. But, if you’re interested in it, keep an eye out for price reductions.

Sell The Trend Alternatives

1. SellTheTrend vs Oberlo

Check out Oberlo’s dashboard, you’ll see a few popular products, but not a ton. Oberlo is a handy app that helps you import, manage, and ship your Shopify orders quickly and easily.

But, if you’re looking for something faster and more efficient, SellTheTrend is the way to go. Plus, Oberlo’s extra features and courses come with a cost, and it’s still not as fast as SellTheTrend – and the best part is, SellTheTrend is totally free!

2. SellTheTrend vs Ecomhunt

You can now research Facebook ads with Ecomhunt’s Chrome extension. But at its heart, Ecomhunt is still just a dropshipping product curation service.

SellTheTrend, on the other hand, is more than just a product discovery tool for dropshipping. It also helps with order importing, managing and executing all in one spot.

If you’re on a tight budget and just want a quick list of highly-rated products, Ecomhunt might be for you. But if you’ve got some cash to spare, SellTheTrend is the way to go – it gives you way more information on each product.

3. SellTheTrend vs Niche Scraper

Both apps are all about helping you discover new info about products. With Niche Scraper, you can analyze the products you’re interested in with the Store Analysis feature.

But SellTheTrend’s product research page is where it’s at if you’re looking for more data. Plus, SellTheTrend’s got a killer tool for creating video ads, it’s cheaper to get started, and it helps you keep track of all your Shopify purchases.

4. SellTheTrend vs ShopInspect

If you’re looking for a cheaper option than SellTheTrend, check out ShopInspect. Not only is it more budget-friendly, but it also gives you access to see the Facebook and Instagram ads from other Shopify stores.

But, if you’re just advertising on Facebook and Instagram, SellTheTrend might be a better fit for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking to market your Shopify store on Google Ads too, then ShopInspect is a solid choice. Just keep in mind it doesn’t have any tools to help manage your orders.

Is dropshipping still worth it in 2023?

Dropshipping in 2023 can definitely be profitable, but it’s not gonna be a walk in the park. You gotta be willing to put in the time and effort before seeing any dough. And trust me, the problems you’ll face with this business model are plenty.

First off, you gotta be using sponsored ads on social media, search engines, and other platforms to boost sales. And let me tell you, those ads ain’t cheap. You gotta be spending money every day to get your ads seen, so if your conversion rate is low, your biz is gonna suffer. And finding the perfect ad that maximizes your profits? Good luck with that.

To really make some cash with this strategy, you need to be selling more than just one thing. You gotta always be on the lookout for the next big thing in the market. But here’s the thing, profit margins are shrinking, and the cost of running ads on Facebook is rising.

And with more and more competition in the industry, it’s easy for other dropshippers to copy your biz model. Plus, there’s the whole ad fatigue thing. If you violate Facebook’s terms of service, not only will people get sick of your ads, but Facebook may delete your account permanently.

Another thing that grinds my gears is when these “dropshipping geniuses” brag about their sales without disclosing their profits. For a bunch of reasons, dropshipping isn’t a sustainable biz model. Even if you manage to develop a successful product, like a fidget spinner, it’s gonna become irrelevant after a while. And finding the next hot product? That’s your top priority.

And let’s not forget about the suppliers. They may not make the best products, they may be out of stock after you receive a ton of orders, and their delivery times may be terrible. These problems make it tough to implement this biz strategy. And most so-called “gurus” are lying to you when they promise you passive income.

That’s why I think a lot of dropshippers offer educational material. It’s not uncommon for “dropshipping gurus” to be inactive and instead focus on making money by teaching others their knowledge in an online course.

Is there a better alternative to dropshipping?

If you are new to online business, you may ask if there is a better business model that doesn’t need Facebook ads and can do it as a side hustle.

Yes, I would suggest you get started with affiliate marketing. It is far easier and less time-consuming as you don’t even need to handle customer service.

In affiliate marketing, you can run your business almost with zero cost. Most importantly, you don’t need to invest in creating and developing any products.

But How Much Can You Earn in Affiliate Marketing?

A 21-year-old student from my #1 recommended training platform of affiliate marketing was able to earn $7,395 in just 1 week, which means he made more than $1k a day…all while using free traffic methods and affiliate marketing.
