Dan Lok Review: A Deep-Dive Into Dan Lok Courses

So, I took this sales course called High Ticket Closer (HTC) by Dan Lok and it was actually helpful. But then, a YouTube video came out claiming the program was a scam and Dan had to rename the whole thing.

It’s true that you won’t get rich with HTC, but you can still draw some inspiration from it.

As someone who has learned a lot watching Dan’s YouTube videos, I want to talk about how this problem came about and what mistakes Dan has made in the past that may have contributed to it.

But ultimately, it’s important to really consider the facts before deciding if Dan’s sales training courses are worth your money.

Apart from the overpriced HTC, here we’ll also take a look at Dan’s other sales and marketing programs.

At the end of this article, I’ll also share with you another e-learning platform that can help you start an online business at a very low cost

Who is Dan Lok?

Dan Lok is an entrepreneur, business coach, author, motivational speaker, and mentor. Dan’s net worth is estimated to be $120 million.

Dan Lok

Dan was born in Hong Kong in 1981 and moved to Ontario at the age of 14. In his bio, he claims to have started Internet marketing at a young age and worked on various projects.

However, he has also closed 13 businesses. Despite occasionally working as a copywriter, most of Dan’s income comes from selling training programs he has developed.

You can find out more about what he offers by visiting his self-titled YouTube channel.

Why are there YouTube videos claiming Dan Lok is a scam artist?

It’s clear that there are a lot of negative videos about “Dan” on YouTube, including a widely viewed interview with someone who claims to have lost $26,000 because they stopped working for six months, believing they were going to be hired by Dan.

However, it seems that the person actually lost the money due to their own poor decision-making, rather than from any wrongdoing on Dan’s part.

Having said that, Dan must take some responsibility for being labeled a scammer. You can read my article: 7 Reasons Why Dan Lok Might Be A Scam.

For the moment, let’s take a look at two most important reasons:

1. Dan is too aggressive with his expensive upsells

Dan Lok’s failure wasn’t because of his sales training, but rather all the upsells and the opportunity to work for and sell for him. He claimed to be part of an elite $2500-a-month mastermind.

Personally, I’m not a fan of upselling, but it’s a common practice among marketers (not just Dan Lok). But it can become an issue if you’re too pushy and try to sell such an expensive upsell to anyone. It could easily backfire.

Dan Lok should have made it so that only those who have already had success using his techniques in selling and closing would be accepted into the Elite Mastermind group.

2. As the saying goes, “bad news travels faster than good.”

“It’s often said that negative news travels faster than positive news. However, it’s important to thoroughly research the situation and form your own opinion rather than being swayed by negative press.

Despite facing criticism, Dan Lok has managed to build a large online following, which speaks to the quality of his work.

It’s not fair to dismiss all of his supporters as simply being fans; it’s clear that he has a solid understanding of the business from his lectures.”

Below are some highlights of his most popular digital programs:

High Ticket Closer

As a “high ticket closer,” Dan Lok has mastered the art of finding and marketing high-priced items to make sales. However, the focus of his training program is not just to teach advanced sales techniques, but to provide a master class in both sales and human psychology.

Whether you are selling a digital product, a yacht, or a villa, closing sales of expensive products requires specific language and behavior. If you want to learn how to communicate and present yourself like a professional marketer, Dan Lok’s HTC program may be right for you.

Dan Lok Copywriting Courses

It was while he was working as a copywriter that Dan Lok began to make his mark on the business world. In addition to his thorough education, he has years of experience in this field.

It is essential for any online entrepreneur to be able to write persuasive copy. Paid ads, landing pages, email marketing, and blogging all use them. Content that sells itself is powerful.

Dan Lok University

This service provides companies with a platform for sales training. I have not found any comments or reactions to it online yet. In some respects, it may be similar to Cardone University.

The most pressing question is whether Dan Lok can be reached through it.

Dan Lok has called himself the king of high ticket sales. But since 2021, he has been selling low-ticket sales programs at really low prices. He still has solid sales training, but his expensive elite mastermind upsells have created a lot of unhappy customers.

Sales Lessons from Dan Lok

A master of sales training, Dan Lok has a deep understanding of sales psychology.

Below are some of the sales lessons I’ve learned from Dan Lok.

High Ticket Sales Rule #1: Never Ever Sound Like A Salesperson

It is said over and over again that the best salespeople are those who can make a sale without making the customer feel sold.

Lots of people get sick of salespeople constantly asking for more, more, more. But if you approach things in the right way, they won’t think you’re just wasting their time. They’ll give you a chance to make a deal.

How do you do it?

So, here are the tips from Dan Lok to help you make a good impression:

  • Keep your excitement in check – it’s always a good idea to pause and take a deep breath before making a call.
  • Speak at a moderate pace – this will help you communicate more effectively.
  • Don’t downplay your worth – this will help you project confidence.
  • Avoid using common sales tactics – try to stand out and be unique.
  • Don’t try to overly please or pursue prospects – this can come across as desperate.

Remember that people prefer to make their own purchasing decisions, rather than feeling sold to.

People are more likely to buy if they feel they choose to do so instead of feeling forced.

Your goal is to interrupt patterns.

As a result, you do not appear, act, or smell like a stereotypical self-centered salesperson.

More Lessons

  • Remember, tonality is key. It’s not just about the words you choose, but how you say them. You want to come across as a calm, caring doctor, not too excited or over the top.
  • When someone asks you something, you respond with another question. Do not divulge too much information unless you can see some financial reward.
  • To make your sales pitch more effective, try to listen more and ask more questions. This will help you understand the customer’s needs better. Take charge of the conversation and guide it towards a resolution. Try to find out what motivates the customer, such as their pain points or needs. Engage and excite the customer so that they are motivated to take action immediately. Remember, the customer should do most of the talking.
  • In order to sell effectively, you have to ask the right questions at the right time.
  • To gauge the level of interest a prospect has in your product or service, you can use a scale of 1-10. A score of 1-5 indicates low needs, 6-8 indicates some needs or interests, and 9-10 indicates high needs or passionate interests. If the prospect scores lower than a 5, it may be a good idea to focus your efforts elsewhere.

Dan Lok Review: Final Verdict

Dan Lok is a well-known business mentor, author, and motivational speaker who has earned a significant fortune through his training, consulting, publishing, and speaking services. He is highly in demand as a public speaker and charges $10,000 per hour for his appearances. Dan has gained international fame through his media presence in print and electronic media.

While Dan has achieved much success, it hasn’t come easily. During his three years at university, he started 13 unsuccessful businesses and accumulated $150,000 in debt. Despite these challenges, he became a millionaire at 27 and a multimillionaire by the time he turned 30.

It’s worth noting that Dan’s mentor, Dan Pena, may have influenced his reckless behavior, such as posting unflattering reviews online without considering the potential negative impact they could have. It can be difficult to remove such reviews once they are posted. However, I do not believe that Dan Lok is a terrible person overall.

Best Alternative To Dan Lok’s Courses

If you’re tired of feeling like a pushy salesperson while trying to close deals by repeatedly calling potential customers, you may want to consider starting your own business and becoming your own boss.

As an experienced Internet entrepreneur who has successfully created multiple 6 figure businesses, I’d say affiliate marketing is the best alternative to Dan’s sales training courses.

Why? Because it doesn’t need initial capital and can do it as a side hustle.

In affiliate marketing, you can run your business almost at zero cost without any trouble from sourcing products or managing inventory.

Also, since you don’t need to spend hours after hours selling things over the phone, it can save you a lot of time. More importantly, it allows you to enjoy a steady stream of passive income while going on vacation or working a full-time job.

Warren Buffet once said, “If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”

The easiest way to make money while you sleep is by getting started with affiliate marketing.

And since the world is full of uncertainty, I’d always choose a business model that has the lowest risk.

But How Much Can You Earn in Affiliate Marketing?

A 21-year-old student from my #1 recommended training platform of affiliate marketing was able to earn $7,395 in just 1 week, which means he made more than $1k a day…all while using free traffic methods and affiliate marketing.
