He is quite popular on YouTube as he creates many videos talking about eCommerce. At the time of writing, his YouTube channel has around 22K subscribers. I have watched some of his videos and find some useful information.
Nick Peroni is quite down-to-earth when compared with other gurus. Many gurus like showing off wealth with lambos, watches and luxury lifestyle. It is a common tactic to sell people a dream lifestyle in order to recruit students. Nick Peroni doesn’t do this and hence looks more trustworthy to me.
However, does that mean you should enrol in his Ecom Empires and learn from him? Let’s take a look at the course content first in the next section.
Ecom Empires Overview
Ecom Empires is a free course that teaches you how to do eCommerce. Nick Peroni makes money by upselling his paid courses and products at the end of the sales funnel. It’s not necessary to take his upsells though.

It takes a while to set up a Shopify store properly. You’ll learn about setting up a theme, selecting the right apps, getting your payment processor, setting up shipping rates and more.
How To Start Dropshipping
Here you will learn about dropshipping best practices and how to build a brand to sell quality products. You will also learn about Wiio, which is Nick Peroni’s tool for finding products and optimizing them.
Optimize For Sales
This is an important section about the sales funnel, which explains what a sales funnel is and how to use it to convert visitors into customers.
Selling With Facebook Ads
You’ll learn how to use Facebook Ads and look at audiences in this course. You’ll also learn the Facebook Ads strategy that Nick Peroni uses himself.
Selling With Google Ads
Google isn’t as complicated as Facebook, so this section is shorter. In this section, you’ll learn to sell your products with Google Ads and Google Shopping Ads.
Google Analytics For Ecommerce
In this short module, you’ll learn how to use Google Analytics to track visitors to your site.
A list of the resources you’ll be using for your eCommerce store can be found in the last section. This includes Shopify, Wiio, FreeeUp, Klavyio and Teespy.
Dropship Academy 2.0
Ecom Empires is a free course, so you should expect some upsells from Nick Peroni at the end of his sales funnel. Nick Peroni will pitch you to join the paid Dropship Academy 2.0, which costs $497.
This course goes into the details of each eCommerce step and includes the following modules:

- You’ll also get access to Nick’s Facebook messenger and email if you sign up for the course.

Ecom Empires Coaching
Apart from Dropship Academy 2.0, Nick Peroni will also pitch you to join his Ecom Empires Coaching. The coaching service is very expensive, which costs $5,000. If you are just starting out, there is no reason to invest so much money before you prove it works.
Ecom Empires Pricing
The Ecom Empires course is a free course. Nick Peroni uses the free course to attract people into his sales funnel. At the end of the sales funnel, he will upsell you to join his paid courses or training programs.
Dropship Academy 2.0 costs $497, which is not very expensive. But his one-on-one coaching costs several thousand dollars, which is overpriced.
Ecom Empires Pros And Cons
- Ecom Empires is free. Nick Peroni does offer quite a lot of free value in the course.
- You can learn the basics of eCommerce in the course
- Nick Peroni seems to be quite successful in doing eCommerce.
- There is no refund policy, so I assume there is no refund once you make the payment.
- The coaching program is too expensive. If you are a beginner, it’s not for you.
- There are no verified success stories
- Ecom Empires is quite basic and you cannot make money by simply taking this basic course
- A lot of the information can be found elsewhere for free
- No secret strategies are shared in the course
Is Nick Peroni A Scam?
I cannot say Nick Peroni is a scam. There is no evidence to prove so. Nick Peroni does offer a lot of free value in the free Ecom Empires course.
As for the paid course, Dropship Academy 2.0, the course is quite comprehensive and digs deeper into eCommerce. But there is no guarantee that you will make money after taking the course.
Actually, eCommerce becomes more difficult as competition is very intense. So I reckon Nick Peroni makes the most money from selling online courses instead of eCommerce itself. You can see that he devotes most of the time and resources to promoting his online course instead of his eCommerce stores.
Actually, eCommerce is not as easy as you thought. Since the advertising cost has increased over the years and many people are doing it now, you will face a lot of competition.
Nick Peroni only tells you the bright side in order to sell you his course. He doesn’t tell you a lot of problems about eCommerce that you should know before starting.
Let me tell you more in the next section.
Is eCommerce Still a Viable Option?
As an experienced eCommerce entrepreneur, what I can tell you is that eCommerce has become increasingly difficult. If you want to build a 6 figure eCommerce business, you need to shed some blood, sweat and tears to figure out how it works.
Here are a few points why I would not recommend eCommerce:
1. Financial Risk
Your eCommerce store won’t sell ANYTHING if you don’t ADVERTISE. But Facebook ads costs are skyrocketing and will eat away your PROFITS. You might need weeks or even months to just break even, before seeing any profit.
In another word, you have to take a huge FINANCIAL RISK in eCommerce.
2. Facebook ads are Pricey and Difficult
After observing most dropshippers’ results, at best, the total Facebook ad cost will account for at least 30% of your total sales.
But Facebook ads seldom stay effective for too long. Once your ad has exhausted the audience, it becomes ineffective. Your total revenue will be much lower and even result in net loss.
According to Forbes, Facebook saw an increase in Ad costs of 90% year-on-year.
Worse still, the learning curve of Facebook ads is quite steep because Facebook changes its algorithm all the time. You have to invest a lot of time and money in learning and testing Facebook Ads.
If you run Facebook ads without any experience, your ad account will be banned for violating their strict policies.
3. Customer Support
In eCommerce, you have to spend a lot of time communicating with suppliers and dealing with customer service.
If your customer has any issues with the product, you have to wait for your supplier to help you. If your supplier is not helpful, you have to bear the loss yourself. Therefore, many eCommerce stores have poor customer review and have no returning customers.
In the worst case, you would expect a lot of credit card chargebacks, which risk getting your payment gateway shut down.
4. A lot of work on product research
For your store to keep making money, you always have to find a product that has the momentum to go viral in order that the ads costs can be covered.
In eCommerce, most products reach their peak in 1-2 months or even weeks. This is because many competitors will steal your product and create a better ad. Or increase their budgets on Facebook ads to outbid you.
Therefore, you need to keep finding new replacements to keep generating cash flow.
You might see people post revenues online but they don’t tell you the net revenue.
Some of them might be making money but it’s not sustainable.
The eCommerce business model is not as passive as you think. Most people who succeed in eCommerce are doing it full time because it requires you to keep finding new products, creating new stores, testing new ads and looking for new suppliers to make your income stable.
Is There Any Better Alternative To Make Money Online?
If you don’t want to waste your time or risk your hard-earned money, you might wonder if there is a better business model that doesn’t need Facebook ads and can do it as a side-hustle.
Yes, I would suggest you get started with affiliate marketing. It is far easier and less time consuming as you don’t even need to handle customer service.
