Are you looking for a Vector Marketing review? This comprehensive review is going to answer all of your questions.
This is another one of those online businesses that focus on selling a saturated membership that supposedly makes you money by selling upgraded products.
Those who promote it have every incentive to get you to join their company or buy their products.
Members of this program do not make money selling knives, although they are supposed to learn how to become a “6-figure network marketer”.
Chances are, someone – a friend or family member – turned you on to Vector Marketing. Perhaps you attended a workshop or webinar online, or you attended an information session in person.
To help you make an informed decision about Vector Marketing, I have done thorough research about it in the past few weeks. So I can tell you everything you need to know about it.
Finally, I’ll share the exact method I used to build my online business that earns a 5-figure passive income every month.
What Is Vector Marketing?
Vector Marketing markets Cutco cutlery. Representatives just out of high school and college are hired to sell their products for a commission.
As a Vector rep, you are considered an independent contractor. Vector marketing means that you do demonstrations of knives and other products at your home. You will receive a base salary for these demonstrations.
As always, you are encouraged to recommend the products to others. If you make a sale, you will receive a sales commission.
Not only will you be taught about the products, but you will also be helped to improve your communication skills. The goal is to build your confidence and give you skills that you can apply in your career.
What is Cutco Cutlery?
Cutco Cutlery is a manufacturer of high quality kitchen cutlery. Cutco was founded in 1949 as the Cooking Utensils Company.
Cutco manufactures a variety of kitchen utensils for everyday use and special needs. In addition to knives, there are utensils, scissors, cutlery, cookware and sport knives.
More than 600 employees work in the factory and administrative headquarters.
Vector Marketing is the marketing and sales division of Cutco Cutlery. But Vector Marketing has not always been Cutco’s only direct sales partner.
At the time, there were hundreds of independent vendors. Cutco is an Olean, New York-based company with a 65-year history.
Vector Marketing was founded in 1981 and became an independent vendor for Cutco Cutlery Corporation. Because the company sold more than any other independent vendor, it was purchased by Cutco Cutlery Corporation in 1995.
This is how Vector merged with Cutco.
Cutco products are not found in every store.
Customers can only purchase these products at Cutco retail stores, local events, or home demonstrations. Their website is also available.
Sales assistance is needed. To sell Cutco products, the company hires many people for training.
Chances are you have seen their ads before when you were looking for a job. Vector Cutco has numerous Recruiting Manager positions available at various locations.
Both high school and college students are attracted to these entry-level and part-time positions.
Why I Don’t Recommend Vector Marketing?
Vector Marketing is an MLM, plain and simple. It does not matter what you call it… Multilevel Marketing (MLM), Network Marketing (NWM), Direct Selling or anything else, it’s the same concept:
You pay a fee up front for the “opportunity” to sell products. The products are usually of inferior quality, but extremely expensive (because of the fancy labels).
The key to success is to get your friends and family to subscribe (so that you get recurring monthly revenue).
Like most people who fall for these types of schemes, you will soon find that the well dries up much faster than you expected.
The way they present it, it sounds simple. “All you have to do is get 5 of your friends on this magic widget and the rest will follow.”
“It can not be that hard,” you think in your head. “I know a lot of people, 5 should be easy.”
Afterwards, you realize that people look at you as if you joined a cult. If you joined an MLM and are now trying to sell questionable products or services, you have become “that person.”
As a result, your relationships suffer and you are caught between two worlds.
This is not your fault. These companies spend millions of dollars every year trying to figure out exactly how to recruit and brainwash people.
Have Any Lawsuits Been Filed Against Vector Marketing?
In recent years, Vector has been sued a few times. Each lawsuit has been worse than the last.
Their recruiting techniques were found to be deceptive by the Arizona Attorney General in 1990. In 1994, Wisconsin ordered Vector to stop its deceptive recruiting practices.
In 2008, a class action lawsuit was filed against them. In 2011, the case was settled for $13 million because the company did not pay its sales representatives the minimum wage.
In 2014, the company was sued in several states for not paying minimum wages, including New York, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Ohio.
Also in 2014, they were sued by one of their distributors for failing to provide adequate training. During a sales call, she was raped and drugged.
Then in 2017, Vector Marketing paid $6.75 million to settle a second class action lawsuit. Participants in the training did not receive compensation. That same year, department managers filed a second class action lawsuit. They argued they should be paid as employees, not contractors.
Is Vector Marketing A Scam?
Technically, no. But making money with this program is not as easy as the company claims.
There’s a lot of work up front, no guarantee of success, and most importantly, very low commissions. If you slave away for three months and then get a $50 commission, it’s not really worth it.
What Are The Ways To Make Money With Vector Marketing?
While you are working, you will receive a weekly check.
Representatives earn between $15 and $18 per day selling Cutco knives to qualified prospects. While it’s not an hourly rate, generally a product presentation lasts between 45 minutes and an hour. In-person or virtual demonstrations are available.
What is the cost of joining Vector Marketing?
You don’t have to pay anything to join, but you will have to go through training to become a sales representative. After completing the course, you’ll receive a sample set of Cutco knives for demonstration. The sample kit must be returned at the end of the course.
Are college students able to make money with vector marketing?
I would say yes. Students in college and older have made money with Vector Marketing.
Besides the money, they offer much more. They offer sales skills training that will help you with interviews and job placement.
What Are the Most Popular Cutco Products?
Vector offers a variety of quality products, but their knife block sets are the most popular. They have a lifetime warranty and can be resharpened for free at any time.
You have a choice of a honey or cherry finish for the oak block that comes with the Ultimate Set. A 10-piece Homemaker set is also available.
