Upskilled Review (2023): Scam or Legit? Exposed!

Have you heard of Upskilled and wondering if it’s a scam? Well, I’ve got some information that might help you out.

Upskilled offers online certificates and diplomas that you can take from the comfort of your own home. But, you might be skeptical about the quality of education and support they provide.

Here’s the deal, I’ve actually taken some courses on Upskilled and I’m here to share my experience. And to be totally transparent, I’m not getting paid for this. So, you can trust that my review is honest and unbiased.

At the end, I’ll also let you in on the best alternative that’s helped me make a full-time passive income.

In this review, I’m going to cover the following topics:

What is Upskilled?

Upskilled is a training organization for Aussies, founded back in 2009 by Joel Gage. They offer career-focused training courses all online, with over 300 options to choose from.

Upskilled

Now, I know some of you might be hesitant about online learning. It can be tough to stay motivated, but if you’re disciplined, you’ll be able to get a lot out of these courses. And if you’re not so into the whole online thing, maybe traditional offline classrooms are more your speed.

Anyway, back to Upskilled. They’ve only got a 3.2/5 rating on productreview.com.au, which is actually pretty bad when you consider the average industry rating is just 4 stars. But you’ll find both happy and unhappy students, just like with any training organization.

So what can you study at Upskilled? They’ve got courses in information technology, administration and business, and community services.

If you’re looking to advance your career in one of these fields, you might want to check them out and see if getting a certificate from Upskilled is right for you.

Upskilled Customer Reviews

Upskilled only receives a 3.2/5 rating on productreview.com.au. Quite a few complaints have been made about their customer service and training.

This customer Foz, for instance, complained that she wasn’t given enough time to review her course properly.

Upskilled negative review

There are some satisfied customers. As an example, ZSM applauded Sarah’s videos that guided her.

Pros

1. Helpful Teachers

The teachers are approachable and they really go the extra mile to make sure you’re supported throughout your journey.

Cons

1. Not Enough Programming Focus

It seems like Upskilled is trying to teach students how to work in a company, instead of actually developing their programming skills. Out of the 20 units, only a few are programming-related, while the rest are focused on topics like teamwork, ethics, and emerging technologies.

2. Ineffective Management

The management team at Upschanged leaves a lot to be desired. Students have had trouble getting in touch with them, with calls going unanswered and fake promises of callbacks. This needs to change as it’s not fair for the student support team to be dealing with management issues.

3. Risk of Unwanted Billing

Another downside of the platform is the potential for unwanted billing while working on certain units. For example, students may be charged while creating a virtual cloud network as part of their learning. It would be much better if there was a way to demonstrate competency without the risk of unexpected billing.

Is Upskilled a scam or legit?

I won’t say it’s a scam but they do offer training materials for their courses. And if you’re looking to boost your resume, a certificate from Upskilled could definitely help.

But here’s the catch, they’re really pushy about you finishing the course as soon as possible, which takes away from the whole point of online courses being self-paced. They’ll call you and even threaten to cancel your course if you’re not keeping up.

The lessons and assignments can be pretty lengthy and complicated too. You even have to record videos with two other people and make them act like work team members. It can be super tough to coordinate with others, and instead of learning, it just gives you a headache.

Another thing is that the trainers keep changing and if you email them for urgent help, they won’t reply. There aren’t any scheduled tutorials and every trainer has their own style, so it’s kind of hit or miss. And if you need more time to complete the course, good luck trying to convince them to extend the deadline! All in all, it can be a waste of money.

Is there a better e-learning alternative?

Have you thought about starting your own business? Upskilled is only a platform for learning job skills. It won’t help you become an entrepreneur.

If you’re new to online business, you may think it’s difficult to start a business on your own. But actually, that’s not true.

There’s a risk-free online business model that doesn’t need initial capital and can be done as a side hustle. It is called “affiliate marketing”.

So you may wonder, “how much can you earn in affiliate marketing?”

Actually, the earning potential of affiliate marketing is huge. They’re people who are doing it full-time and earn a 7-figure income a year.

This is a 21-year-old student from my #1 recommended training platform for affiliate marketing. He was able to earn $7395 in just a week. That means more than $1K a day. It’s nearly impossible for you to find a part-time job that can pay you $1K a day. But affiliate marketing can.

  1. To whom it may concern,
I lodged a formal complaint against Upskilled through ACCC and ASQA.
    As Upskilled failed;
    1. to provide the proper learning modules as there are plenty of mistakes and contradictions throughout the course material
    2. to provide clear and concise instructions to complete tasks
    3. to inform the prospective students that Upskilled requires third parties to complete the assessments to progress throughout the course, i.e. ROLEPLAYS
    4. to respond to student emails, which are promised to be replied to within a certain amount of business days by UPSKILLED instructors
    5. to fulfil the promise of a qualified education programme that the students work with capable instructors and team members
    6. to understand and respond to the student issues
Please kindly refer to productview.com.au for this company, there are many of us struggling to get our money back for the services we have been promised but never received.
