What is the Best Website Builder?
If you are looking to build a web presence for yourself or your online business, using a website builder is a quick and easy way to do so. A site management tool that integrates domain registration, hosting and design into one platform can simplify your site management.
The best option if you don’t know too much about web design and development will be to use an easy drag and drop editor.
It is up to you to make the choice.
I would like to recommend a few of the best website builders to use this year.
1. Wix
The Best Website Builder for Small Businesses ($13/month)
There are over 100 million users using Wix, making it the most popular website builder on the market.
They have 500+ ready-to-use templates to design your website for any type of business. There are 100 fonts (or you can use your own) to choose from and all these templates are mobile-friendly.
The designs are also beautiful. They have scroll effects, and advanced design features such as animation and video backgrounds.
The Wix.com website makes it super easy for you to register a domain if you already have one at GoDaddy or if you want to register one at Wix.com. There are also plans that start at $20/month if you’d like to add e-commerce to your site so that you can sell online.
It is my recommendation that if you are a small business owner, Wix is the best online store builder for you. It is not necessary to choose a platform that has more advanced options like BigCommerce and Shopify. Owners of Wix websites that would like to add an e-commerce store can now take advantage of these great new features.
The most user-friendly website building tool on the market is called Wix. The look and feel of your site can be virtually endlessly customized without the need for any coding knowledge on your part.
As part of their service, they have also developed a tool called Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) – the first artificial intelligence website builder. Wix ADI takes the time to learn about your site and uses this information to design a site that is customized specifically for your needs.
With this tool you can choose from billions of combinations of images, text, layouts, and contact forms using AI.
The bottom line is that if you’re looking for the best website builder for small businesses, Wix is your best option.

2. Squarespace
The best website design for personal sites ($12/month)
It is their gorgeously designed home page that immediately springs to mind when I think of Squarespace. It’s no secret that they know how to build beautifully designed, high-quality websites that look great not just for small businesses, but for individual consumers as well.
They are one of the best when it comes to design, as they have over 100 design templates to choose from. The Squarespace templates are beautifully designed down to the smallest detail. It is a perfect combination of colors, fonts, and images for any website you can think of.
Aside from design, their platform is great for bloggers as well. This WYSIWYG blogging editor is really intuitive to use, and I have tested it out.
In the editor you can drag and drop elements on the page like images, headings and content and position them where you wish. You can also set up multiple user permissions, take advantage of Google AMP and schedule your posts in advance:
As far as SEO is concerned, Squarespace is not #1 as a result of a few small SEO limitations. Creating an XML sitemap for my website has resulted in two separate versions of every page. These two versions, with and without the trailing slash “/”, could possibly cause SEO and duplicate content issues later on. The last time I checked, they did not have an easy fix for the problem.
The second thing you should keep in mind is that your blog headlines become your meta title, so take care when writing them for search engine optimization. More information can be found in my complete Wix vs Squarespace comparison.
These drawbacks are more than compensated for by other beautiful features of this program. With their easy to use interface, you can build your site in no time with their simple editing tools. Even if you don’t use Google Analytics, the in-built analytics tools will provide you with steady data on visitors to your site. In addition to that, receiving a professionally designed website for as little as $12/month is hard to beat.
Prices for their Personal Plan range from $12/month to $40/month for their Online Store (Advanced) plan, depending on the plan selected. Squarespace’s prices are based on a one-year contract, and they include a free domain name. Among the features of the Personal plan are a free domain name, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, free SSL, and 24x7x365 customer support.
All in all, Squarespace is a great choice for a small business that needs first-class web design, or if you want to keep your content looking great as a blogger.
3. Weebly
The best free website builder (Free – $25/month)
There are over 530,000 domains that use Weebly, and it is known as the easy website builder of choice for people who do not possess much technical know-how. They offer a lot of great features. You can use Weebly.com if you’re a blogger, in order to pick a domain name and to use their editor in order to add your text, images, and content.
Moreover, the company offers a mobile app that you can use on the go to track the progress of your website. You can send newsletters to your subscribers directly in your email marketing tool by using their tools for sending newsletters.
The basic plan on Weebly is free, and comes with 500 MB of storage, a free SSL certificate, and a domain with the Weebly branding. The only downside to this plan is that you are forced to use the Weebly branding throughout your entire site. There is also no phone support on the free plan, as the free plan only offers chat and email support.
Weebly has paid plans that range from $5 to $25 per month. Aside from the affordable plans, their Business Plan gives you the ability to sell your products online, has a free domain name, and $200 in Google advertising credits.
In addition to the ability to accept payments through Square and other providers, they provide features such as product options/variants, coupon codes, inventory management, a shipping calculator, shipping labels, and the ability to accept payments online through their e-commerce platform.
You get different levels of customer support depending on what type of subscription you have. There are many different places that you can find assistance yourself, including their website, blog, support center, community forum, social media, as well as developer documentation. Additionally, there is telephone support, as well as live chat support.
Weebly is a great way to start creating websites very quickly, with a simple interface that allows you to get started quickly.
4. Shopify
The best website builder for ecommerce ($29/month)
With over 800,000 businesses using Shopify to process their online sales, it is a very popular ecommerce platform. Founded in 2004, they quickly became a leader in cloud data management due to their easy-to-use dashboard and the thousands of third-party apps they integrated with.
In spite of the fact that not every website owner requires product-selling functionality, I decided to add Shopify to the list since it is almost possible for any small business to use them to setup their website.
As an example, let’s look at a salon.
With Shopify, not only can you set up a quick website, with features such as a blog, a map of your location, contact information, and appointment scheduling (with the Shopify app), you can also sell hair care products online. You create not only a website for your business, but also another online revenue stream for you.
Shopify is a platform with a lot of features that you’d come to expect of other tools on this list, including hosting, your own domain name, 70+ professional themes, a free SSL certificate, and marketing and SEO tools.
They also offer mobile commerce, 100+ payment gateways, automatic shipping rates by carriers, and automatic tax rates along with a full checkout experience. It is also possible to sell across platforms like Facebook, eBay, Amazon, Instagram, and many others.
It is highly recommendable that you get started with Shopify rather than another tool that doesn’t take online shopping as seriously as Shopify if you are setting up a brand new website and are thinking of selling products online down the road.
It offers three different plans that range from 29 dollars per month to 299 dollars per month. With the $29/month Basic Shopify Plan, users should be able to get everything they need, including an online store with unlimited products, full website functionality, blog features, and 24/7 support.
Shopify gives you 14 days for free with no credit card required if you would like to give them a try.
5. HubSpot Content Management System
The Best Website Tool with Integrated CRM Tools (Free – $350 per month)
There are a lot of advantages to HubSpot besides its excellent CRM and marketing features. It includes a full-featured CMS and website builder. You can create website pages, blogs posts, and landing pages quickly either by using their built-in templates or from scratch using their platform.
In order to create pages that look great on any device, their drag-and-drop editor uses responsive design so that you can easily customize them. One of the things that make HubSpot stand out is its personalization and integration featuresIn contrast to other tools on this list, HubSpot comes integrated with a wide variety of marketing software, such as tools to manage email marketing, get found online, and capture, engage, and understand leads..
The HubSpot tool comes integrated with a number of marketing software products, including email marketing software, as well as tools allowing you to track and engage your leads, as well as track and report on conversion rates.
If you are creating a webpage, for example, you might be able to put calls-to-action and templates that convert visitors into leads. In the next step, once you understand your visitors, you will be able to use HubSpot CRM to create unique content based on their location, device, language, traffic source, and any other information you choose to capture in the CRM.
All aspects of the customer lifecycle are covered by this integrated marketing suite:
- Forms, live chat, and conversational chatbots can all be used to capture leads.
- Using email marketing, retargeting, and messenger integrations, you can send personalized messages to your leads.
- By using their contact report builder, analytics tools, and list segmentation, you can better understand your prospects.
- By providing personalized experiences, calls-to-action, and smart content, leads can be converted into paying customers.
In general, if you are looking for a website builder that also comes with a full-featured set of marketing and CRM tools, HubSpot would be the best choice.

Elementor for WordPress users offers a wide range of pre-designed, fully responsive website templates, allowing them to create a beautiful, engaging website within minutes. In addition, they can take advantage of Elementor’s Hello theme, which is very popular.
The equivalent of a blank canvas for a webpage, Hello is a ‘super’ WordPress starter theme; it is lightweight, minimalistic, and blank, and can be custom-made to fit any design concept or end-user requirement.
Moreover, with the Elementor plugin, you can take complete control over every aspect, every design element, and every functionality of your website.
With 4.3% of all websites created with it, Elementor has a vast and powerful network of web creators behind it. Elementor users can choose to host their website with one of the many WordPress hosting companies. As an alternative, users could subscribe to Elementor cloud, which would allow them to build the website themselves, rather than having the website hosted by Elementor.
Hosting plans usually range between $4 and $16 per month and are equipped with an SSL option to keep your site secure and a Content Delivery Network which decreases the time it takes for your website to load.
Pricing:
Elementor offers a free plan or subscribers can choose from a variety of subscription plans. With the free plan, you gain access to the platform’s drag & drop editor, mobile editing, as well as Elements’ Hello theme (the fastest theme on WordPress).

Even those with little or no experience in web development can take advantage of Elementor’s widgets and its powerful editor to build stunning, dynamic websites at scale.

Their main focus is on providing integrated marketing solutions for small and medium sized businesses through integrated digital marketing channels. 14. Jimdo
A Personalized Website with the Power of Artificial Intelligence (Free – $9/month)
You can create your website with Jimdo within 3 minutes simply by answering a few questions about your business and having the platform lead you through the creation process.
In conjunction with its flexible content blocks, Jimdo uses a very simple template system instead of static designs. It is also possible to automatically create navigation menus and landing pages for you, if you’re a small business. The logo, address, text blocks, and hours of operation of a local restaurant, for example, will automatically appear on the map page on which the restaurant is found.
The greatest benefit Jimdo offers me can be summed up in one word – automation. With Automatic SEO, your Google Search Console will be synchronized with your website in just three clicks. Using content blocks, it is now possible to build web pages faster than ever before. It is based on the industry vertical that you work in that AI identifies and constructs the website.
There is a free plan of theirs that comes with limited features as well as ads on their site. Basically, if you upgrade your $9/month plan, you get your domain for free for a year, an ad-free site with advanced SEO features, analytics reporting, and the capability to use their affiliate program.
For the sake of simplicity, Jimdo uses AI to build the images for your website using their image library of stock photos, which is quite useful. You can also integrate social media, create navigation menus, and customize your page to match your industry with ease. In general, I think that the AI can be compared to Wix ADI but it is somewhat better.
The steps to create a website with Jimdo are as follows:
- Sign up for a free Jimdo account.
- You just need to answer a few questions, and Jimdo will gather your business information from Facebook and Google.
- Choose a pre-made design from the list. The photos and text you already have from your listings can be used by Jimdo so that you can provide more personalized content.
- Make any final edits and finishing touches to your document.
- It is time to publish your new website.
A great choice for someone who is looking for an easy way to build a website in under 3 minutes using the power of artificial intelligence is Jimdo.
15. BigCommerce
The best solution for large online stores ($29/month)
With BigCommerce, you are not only getting your typical website builder, but also a powerful ecommerce platform that also provides excellent website functionality and zero transaction fees.
Adding BigCommerce to this list is due to the fact that it has a very advanced feature set. The features include best-of-class SEO features (URL structure, site speed, uptime) and conversion rate-optimized themes, as well as the ability to add over 600 products to your shop.
It’s not hugely expensive and it has more advanced features than the other tools on this list, if you’re thinking about building a website and maybe selling products at some point in the future.
Adding BigCommerce shopping cart software to your website is a great way to give your website a professional look. My first preference of their free themes is because conversion rate optimization should always be at the forefront of your web design.
The sites look good and load quickly, as well as optimizing conversions. For my WordPress site, which sells digital products, I use BigCommerce for WordPress plugin, and as a result, the website is very fast. In order to avoid overloading hosting companies with resources, BC4WP uses an open-source API. This allows you to build your site on WordPress and use BigCommerce for the back-end commerce.
My initial installation of the WooCommerce plugin (with their three extra plugins that make it work) did not meet my expectations, particularly concerning their checkout and shopping cart pages. It was poorly designed. There were odd places for CTA buttons. As a result, I realized that my sales would suffer because of the bad user experience.
My conversion rate has increased substantially since I changed over to BigCommerce.

What is a Website Builder?
With a website builder, you can manage your website and domain name from any device, without having to learn the coding and formatting. Another way to put it is that a website builder is a tool or program that will help you build your own website.
The old days of the web required programmers to know both HTML and CSS to be able to create a website.
If you want to code a website today, you need to know JavaScript and PHP extensively. With website builders, this is not the case.
Small businesses, bloggers, news sites, and ecommerce businesses can easily create a website with these tools.
What is the Best Website Builder for Small Business?
You will find that the best software for small businesses will provide you with everything you need to get started right away. If you want your website to stay up, the builder should offer you steady uptime, as well as provide emails for your employees.
Local small businesses also require the ability to share coupons with their customers, photo galleries, social media integration, and other unique features to attract customers to their websites.
There are a few software tools that have risen above the rest on this list, despite the fact that most of them cover the basics a small business website needs.
Here are my top picks for the best website builder for small businesses:
1. Wix
My #1 choice is Wix because it is the easiest and most feature-rich platform on the market for small businesses, and they have some of the best themes.
Wix.com allows businesses to easily connect their domain to their site, choose a theme for their website, fill in their information, and click “Publish”.
Even though Wix isn’t as easy to use as Hibu or SITE123, it stands out for its SEO features and themes.
The following are some of the unique features of Wix that make it an excellent choice for small businesses:
- You can easily be found online by syncing your Google My Business page with your website.
- The Google Search Console enables you to connect your site so that Google can automatically index your website. The search results will begin showing up within a few minutes of signing up.
- To schedule an appointment, you can use the integrated scheduling tool.
- You will be able to create and send invoices in one place.
- Build your customer email list quickly with our built-in email marketing tools.
- You can add custom forms such as contact forms, surveys, quizzes, and polls to your website to collect visitor information.
Generally speaking, Wix makes it easy to build a solid business website in a couple of hours. In spite of the fact that I’m a blogger and use WordPress for this site, I’ve built small business websites for family and friends and have always used Wix.
2. Hibu
Due to its digital marketing features, Hibu has been ranked as my #2 choice for businesses. As a local business, it is highly recommended that you have a strong online presence on Google, Facebook, and all local directories in order to gain traction. Not only that, but there’s much more to it than that.
It is also important for you to take steps to enhance your local ranking and to be aware that Google determines local rankings based on relevance, distance, and prominence.
Hibu is very aware of this and helps with all aspects of digital marketing, including local listings management, online reviews, social media marketing, search engine marketing (SEM), and search engine optimization (SEO).
3. SITE123
If you don’t have any experience in building websites and just want a simple website so that people can find your business online, SITE123 could be a good option for you.
Due to their three-step process when making a website, almost anyone can start a website using their software. A simple website is one that has between 3 and 5 pages.
Regardless of the fact that I recommend one of the two sites above, SITE123 has made it easier than ever to get your site up fast.
What is the Best Ecommerce Website Builder?
Besides offering easy to use drag and drop tools to build your site with content, the best e-commerce website builders provide robust e-commerce functions, such as product and shipping pages, shipping integrations, product variations, coupons, payment gateways, and more.
I have picked four of the best e-commerce website builders as follows:
1. Wix
In addition to providing strong online selling capabilities, Wix is also very easy to use. A plus of their ecommerce theme design is the fact that it is very appealing to the eye.
You can create your own e-commerce website using Wix by following these simple steps:
- Please log in to your Wix account.
- Over 500 ecommerce website themes are available for you to choose from.
- You can customize the look and feel of your online store.
- Create your online store and add your products to it.
- Connect your payment provider of choice and configure your shipping settings accordingly.
- You will need to choose a custom domain for your new website.
- You can publish your website and start selling online as soon as possible.
Please make sure to read my guide to the best ecommerce platforms for more information on this.
2. Shopify
It is my #2 choice when it comes to building an online store as their app partner directory and ease of use allow almost anyone to build a website quickly. The combination of online store functionality with the website features made by them is excellent.
Creating a website is quick and easy thanks to the more than 70 themes that are available and the native blog functionality that is included.
3. BigCommerce for WordPress
While BigCommerce is a great platform and has a lot of features on the back-end, it is not an excellent website builder at its core, therefore, it is behind Shopify on the list. As a result, it is more suitable for e-tailers with high sales volumes rather than anyone who is simply looking for a website builder.
In spite of the strong backend features, some of the website’s overall features are lacking, with few themes to choose from, somewhat difficult drag-and-drop tools, and a rather limited blog functionality.
Using BigCommerce for WordPress is a great plugin if you are looking to create a content-rich website. The plugin can be installed via the WordPress dashboard which will then enable you to sync products with your WordPress website through BigCommerce’s API.
Having the power of WordPress and a powerful e-commerce engine under the hood of your store without slowing it down will allow you to take advantage of all of the features WordPress provides.
Website Builders FAQ
Do you know how much it costs to build a website?
On the whole, website builders typically charge a monthly fee, which varies depending on how many features you need. Depending on the website builder, the monthly fee can range anywhere from $1 to $50. In addition to this, they also offer hosting and file management, however, you will have to purchase your own domain name.
Generally speaking, when it comes to ecommerce platform functionality, this usually starts around the middle tier price point of $20 to $30 a month.
Is Wix a better option than WordPress?
It is true that WordPress and Wix have their own strengths and weaknesses, and choosing one over the other will largely depend on your needs. Unlike Wix, which is easier to use and covers both the building and the hosting of a website, WordPress requires that you obtain your own hosting accounts. Additionally, WordPress is also better when it comes to SEO, customization, and blogging features.
Wix, as I mentioned in the introduction, is a good choice for small businesses who need a simple website. You should use WordPress if you want to start a complex website or if you would like to start a blog.
How much does a website cost on a monthly basis?
It costs around $3 to $50 per month to manage a website on a monthly basis, depending on the site. Your monthly website builder costs have to be taken into account as well as the annual domain name cost that you have to average out.
Using $10 a year for a domain name and a $6 per month plan for Weebly as an example, this would come out to average $6.83 per month. There are many ways to build your web presence, but none of them includes third-party services such as email newsletter services or SEO tools that can help you.
Is there a website builder offered by Google?
On Google’s website you can build a one-page website by using the “Website” tool. With its free use, it allows small businesses to easily build a website and to manage it on a desktop or mobile device. It has plenty of features, but it is not a perfect tool for running a website as it lacks custom options, SEO tools, and other things that are vital to optimizing a website.
Is it possible to get a free website for my business?
There is no doubt, that your business can benefit from a free website, but there can be some restrictions as well. In the case of Wix, the free plan comes without a custom domain name, but the free plan does feature a free account. The first step to obtaining a “dot com” domain name is to purchase your domain name and to choose a paid web hosting package.
Conclusion
The following are my top picks for the best website builders in my opinion. I have distilled the list down to the top 74 options out there so that you can choose what is right for your business or online brand. As there are 74 options to choose from, I have condensed the list down to the very best.
In summary, if you intend to get the most out of your website building efforts, I recommend you opt for Wix.
There are many design and template options at Squarespace. You should take a look.
Shopify is a good option if you want to build an e-commerce website so you can sell products online.
