SurveyMonkey Review (2023): Scam or Legit? Exposed!

Are you thinking about using SurveyMonkey for your market research or customer satisfaction analysis? Well, you might have come across some rumors that SurveyMonkey is a scam. But let me tell you, it’s not!

In fact, SurveyMonkey is one of the most popular online form builders out there, trusted by over 6,700 companies worldwide. It’s super user-friendly, and it’s available in more than 15 different languages, including French, German, Korean, and Japanese. Plus, it offers a variety of tools for data analysis, pre-built forms, and a wide range of question types (13 in total).

As an Internet entrepreneur, I’m in a good position to share with you everything I know about SurveyMonkey. Over the years, I’ve reviewed many tools like SurveyMonkey.

As a disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with SurveyMonkey. It means I’m not paid to write this review. So you can rest assured that you will get an honest and unbiased review from me.

At the end of this review, I’ll also tell you the best way to make money online.

What Is Survey Monkey?

SurveyMonkey is a nifty tool that lets you create and distribute surveys to your desired audience. I mean, who wouldn’t want to gather some valuable info from their customers or friends, right?

SurveyMonkey has been around since 1999 and was founded by Ryan and Chris Finley. It’s a cloud-based software company that provides a range of options for creating surveys, and that’s what we’ll be discussing here.

The surveys themselves might not be what’s valuable, but the information you gain from them definitely is. That’s where SurveyMonkey comes in handy. They have premium tools on their backend that can help analyze survey results, especially for more complex surveys that require sample selection and eliminating bias.

Now, you might be wondering if SurveyMonkey is worth trying. Well, the good news is that they offer a free trial and a user-friendly interface that makes survey creation a breeze.

However, I should mention that some reviews have claimed that SurveyMonkey is a scam. I was surprised to hear that, as they seem like a reputable company. But, it’s always best to do your own research before committing to anything.

Overall, SurveyMonkey is a great option for creating surveys with ease. Just keep in mind that the real value lies in the information you gain from your surveys, not the surveys themselves.

SurveyMonkey’s Powerful Tools

SurveyMonkey is always adding new tools to improve the experience for its users.

If you’re an e-commerce platform, SurveyMonkey works great with Shopify. And if you’re looking for social media tools, Hootsuite is the perfect match.

Need to connect with your customers via email marketing? Try SurveyMonkey with MailChimp.

Plus, with Zapier, you can link SurveyMonkey to hundreds of apps and automations.

For example, with Zapier, you can set up an automation that triggers the creation of a new customer record in Google Sheets when a form is submitted through SurveyMonkey.

Building your forms with SurveyMonkey is a breeze. Use tools like Image Choice to collect input on photos or items, or Net Promoter Score to see how likely your customers are to recommend you to their friends. You’ll also have access to a large library of professionally worded questions.

Just be aware that the free version of SurveyMonkey has some limitations, such as the lack of logic, custom question banks, and payment features. But overall, SurveyMonkey is a fantastic choice for anyone in need of data collection and analysis tools.

SurveyMonkey Genius

SurveyMonkey Genius enables an easier way to streamline your data collection. The AI-powered application was developed with the help of survey specialists, so you can be sure you’re getting the best advice for your needs.

With SurveyMonkey Genius, you can ask the best type of survey questions for your research, whether it’s multiple choice or text box.

Plus, the AI system scores your survey and suggests areas for improvement, predicts your survey’s likelihood of success, and helps you create the ideal response options for scale-type questions.

Custom Question Bank

SurveyMonkey’s custom question bank is a fantastic tool to use for collaborative research projects.

With this feature, you can prepare survey questions tailored to your needs, and share them with your team members. This not only saves you time but also ensures that all surveys conducted by your team are consistent in tone and format.

Imagine how convenient it would be to have a library of survey questions that your team can access and use, instead of having to create a new survey from scratch every time. The custom question bank feature eliminates the need to reinvent the wheel for each survey.

QR Survey Codes

Survey Monkey has recently introduced a new feature called “Share a QR Code” that can help get feedback from customers.

With this new feature, you can now share a QR code with your customers that they can scan with their mobile devices to access your survey. This eliminates the need for customers to search for the survey link, which can be a real pain.

But that’s not all! You can also use this feature on other shipping documents, such as invoices and delivery bills, to quickly and easily collect feedback from your customers. This is a great way to make sure you’re getting the feedback you need to improve your business.

So, don’t waste any more time struggling to get responses to your online surveys. Give Survey Monkey’s new QR Code feature a try.

Is It a Scam or Legit?

Let me assure you that SurveyMonkey is completely legit. That being said, there are some problems with their billing procedures that have led to a lot of complaints and negative reviews.

For example, some people have been charged a recurring monthly fee even though they only wanted to pay for a single month. Others have overpaid for a certain number of surveys, only to find out that they had to pay more if they got more responses than expected. It can be frustrating, to say the least.

I recently had a similar issue with one of my email providers. I thought I was paying for a certain number of blog subscribers, but it turned out that I had to pay for each additional subscriber. It wasn’t a huge amount, but it was still annoying.

Some people have also complained about SurveyMonkey’s pricing policy. For example, if you pay for 1,000 survey responses and then realize that you need more, you’ll be charged an additional fee for each response. This can add up quickly, especially if you have a large audience.

To be fair, SurveyMonkey does have a warning about this in the fine print. But let’s be real, who actually reads the fine print? It would be much better if they made it clearer upfront that additional responses cost extra.

Despite these issues, I don’t think SurveyMonkey is a scam. They’re a legitimate company that provides a useful service. But they do need to work on their billing procedures to avoid frustrating their customers.

Online Reviews and Complaints

No matter how awesome your business is, it’s likely that you’ll eventually receive some complaints from your customers. It can be tough to hear negative feedback, but it’s important to address these concerns if they keep popping up.

If you’re getting lots of complaints about the same issue, it’s time to take action. It could be that you’re unintentionally misleading your customers, you have a management problem, or you’re not being clear enough about your intentions and policies.

In the case of SurveyMonkey, many of the complaints are related to billing. Customers are frustrated with not being able to unsubscribe from emails, unauthorized credit card charges, and changes to billing cycles without their knowledge or permission. Additionally, some folks have reported poor customer service.

While customer service is subjective, these other issues are definitely valid. It’s important for SurveyMonkey to be aware of these complaints so they can take steps to address them. It’s possible that management isn’t even aware of the problem, which is why it’s so important for customers to speak up.

Of course, it’s worth noting that people are more likely to complain than to leave positive reviews. So while it may seem like there are hundreds of unhappy customers, the reality may not be so dire.

That being said, after reading some of these negative reviews, I personally decided not to provide my email address or other information to SurveyMonkey. It’s not that I doubt the quality of their product, but I’m just not comfortable taking the risk.

Finally, you might hear people talking about receiving spam from SurveyMonkey. I won’t get into the details here, but suffice it to say that it’s another issue that the company should be aware of and working to address.

In the end, the best way to deal with customer complaints is to take them seriously and address them as quickly and effectively as possible. That’s the only way to build a loyal customer base and grow your business over the long term.

Pricing

If you’re thinking about giving SurveyMonkey a try, we’ve got you covered with a quick overview of their pricing options.

Free Trial

First off, there’s a free trial which allows you to create unlimited surveys with up to 10 questions each and view up to 100 responses.

Standard

If you want more features, the Standard plan costs $37 per month (or $31 per month if you pay annually). This gives you access to additional templates, unlimited surveys and questions, and a monthly response rate of up to 1000. If you pay annually, there’s no limit to the number of responses you can receive.

Advantage

If you opt for the annual Standard plan, you can upgrade to the Advantage plan for just an extra dollar per month ($32/month when billed annually or $384/year). The Advantage plan includes team collaboration, more support options, and the ability to run split tests.

Premier

Finally, for enterprise customers, there’s the Premier plan which costs $1188 per year. This plan includes everything in the Advantage plan plus statistical analysis, survey logic, direct API access, and phone support.

Final Verdict

If you’re worried about getting an endless stream of SurveyMonkey spam, I suggest signing up for the free trial with a separate email and account.

It’s important to note that SurveyMonkey itself is not responsible for sending spam. Rather, it could be an unauthorized third party using SurveyMonkey services to send the spam. If this happens, make sure to report it.

If you’re still unsure about whether SurveyMonkey is right for you, you can always create a real account later on.

However, it’s worth noting that SurveyMonkey is an excellent platform for creating and analyzing surveys, and it provides some great tools for making sense of the data you collect.
