According to Product Testing USA, it only takes a few steps to become a product reviewer on their platform. Well, I’ve tried it out for you and it’s not quite what it seems. Here’s a rundown of the process:

Step 1: Sign Up

First things first, you’ll need to sign up for an account. When you select a product to review, you’ll be asked to hit the Sign Up icon which takes you to the next page. The sign-up process is pretty simple, but make sure to uncheck the box that says you’re okay with receiving emails and promotions if you don’t want to be bombarded with messages.

Step 2: Questionnaire

After signing up, you’ll be directed to a questionnaire. This is where things start to get a bit sketchy. The questionnaire is actually designed to promote other products and get you to sign up for even more stuff. So beware, it’s not really about testing products at this point.

Step 3: Receive the Product (or not)

Okay, so technically this is the third step, but in reality, you might never get to this point. Based on what others have told me, the whole thing is just a ploy to get you to sign up for things and they never actually send you any products to test. So while you may think you’ll get to test out some cool products, it’s more likely that you’ll just be disappointed.

How do you get paid?

Rather than cash, the site offers product testing opportunities and gift cards as rewards. As a tester, you get to keep the products you test, some of which are worth quite a lot, making for some pretty nice rewards.

That said, if you’re interested in free products, Product Testing USA can be a great option. However, it’s important to have the right expectations.

To be able to keep a product you’ve tested, you need to write a review of at least 500 words, make a video review that’s at least one minute long, and send photos. 

Your feedback will be used and posted on Product Testing USA’s website and social media channels. If you’re not comfortable with this, you should not participate, as submitting reviews and photos is a requirement of the program and will be used for promotional purposes to show other people what’s possible to get by participating.

It could happen after just a few attempts, or it might not happen even if you register for all available products for a year or more.

It’s similar to participating in a lottery – you have a chance to win, but there are no guarantees. It’s essential to keep this in mind so that you don’t get disappointed if you don’t get chosen.

It’s also worth noting that there are thousands of testers, and companies don’t give away thousands of free products. This means that you could sign up and never be chosen. When you join an online platform to earn rewards, it’s crucial to have access to support if you encounter any issues. If you’re a member of Product Testing USA, you can contact their support team, but the option is not very obvious.

To find the contact form, scroll down to the bottom of the website and click on the FAQ section. Some of the questions here mention a contact form, and you can click on the word “contact form” to reach out to them. However, the option is not available for all questions, so you may need to search around a bit.

One way to find the contact form is by checking the “My Account Support” section and looking for the question “I am not receiving email newsletters from Product Testing,” as shown in the image above.

Alternatively, you can contact Product Testing USA through their Facebook page. Just send them a message, and they should be able to help you out.

My Personal Experience With Product Testing USA

Signing up with Product Testing USA is free, but there was some fine print that I found interesting, to say the least.

I was really keen on testing the latest FitBit and signed up using my Facebook account. I filled in the required information and noticed that my phone number was already filled in. That was a red flag for me, so I paused before submitting my request.

Then, I saw a box to check just before submitting the form. The fine print next to it said that I would be agreeing to receive telemarketing calls from partners and sponsors, even if I was on the DNC (Do Not Call) list.

I was taken aback. What did that mean? It meant that my phone would be ringing non-stop if I signed up to test products. And this was the case for every product I wanted to test.

They don’t allow you to submit your application if you don’t agree to the terms, which is a bummer.

If you’re wondering what it means for you, it means that your phone will probably start ringing with spam calls at all hours. On top of that, they share your information with third-party companies, which means you’ll be getting even more spam in your inbox.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind the calls if I thought I had a shot at testing the product, but the chances of that happening are quite slim, as evident from the comments on their Facebook page.

On the bright side, you get to keep any products you review, which could be valuable. However, you can’t make cash on the site.

All in all, it’s up to you to decide whether or not it’s worth it to sign up with Product Testing USA.
