Early Life

Prince was born in Los Angeles, California on February 13, 1997. He is the first child of Michael Jackson, the late pop singer, and Debbie Rowe, his ex-wife. Rowe signed over custody of Prince and his sister, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, following her divorce from Michael in 1999. Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson is Prince and Paris’s youngest sibling.

Although Rowe is certain to be Prince’s biological mother, the identity of his biological father is unknown. Despite public interest, Prince doesn’t understand why the subject is a problem. “Every time someone asks me that, I think to myself, ‘What’s the point?’ ‘Does it really make a difference?’ Specifically to someone who is not a part of my life. What impact does this have on your life? It makes no difference to me “In 2017, he told Rolling Stone.

Father’s Death and Later Years

Michael died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles. Following the death of his father, Prince, who was 12 at the time, was placed under the legal guardianship of his grandmother, Katherine Jackson. Katherine was appointed as Prince and his siblings’ legal guardian.

Prince and his siblings have largely avoided the public eye since Michael’s death, with the exception of accepting a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for their father at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

An official coroner’s report on Michael’s death was released in February 2010, revealing that the singer died from acute propofol intoxication. Michael had used this drug and others to help him sleep at night, with the help of his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray’s actions while caring for Michael Jackson were scrutinized further after a police investigation revealed that he was not licensed to prescribe most controlled drugs in California. Murray was found guilty of homicide in Michael’s death on November 7, 2011, and received a four-year prison sentence.

The Jackson family decided to sue A.E.G. Live, the entertainment company that promoted Michael’s planned comeback series, “This Is It,” in 2009, believing that the company had failed to adequately protect the singer while he was in Murray’s care.

Katherine and Prince, Paris, and Blanket officially filed a wrongful death lawsuit against A.E.G., and the trial began in April 2013. Lawyers sought up to $1.5 billion in damages in the case — an estimate of what Michael could have earned in the months since his death if he had been alive — but in October 2013, a jury determined that A.E.G. was not responsible for Michael’s death. “While Michael Jackson’s death was a terrible tragedy, it was not the fault of A.E.G. Live,” said A.E.G.’s lawyer, Marvin S. Putnam.
