Are you looking for an Opinion Outpost review? But you may wonder if it is a scam.
There seems to be a company on every corner advertising “pay to vote.”
While there are some fancy offerings, I like the no-frills polling sites.
And that’s why I like using Opinion Outpost. With a low reward threshold and a focus on survey participation, Opinion Outpost offers a straightforward points system.
Positive reviews from satisfied customers have helped Opinion Outpost achieve an above-average rating on review portals.
My own experience has taught me to be wary due to the unpaid profile surveys, misleading “badge” system, and abysmal customer service.
As a disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with Opinion Outpost. It means I’m not paid to write this review. So you can rest assured that you will get an honest and unbiased review from me.
At the end of this review, I’ll also tell you the best alternative to Opinion Outpost that has enabled me to make a full-time passive income online.
What Is Opinion Outpost?
Opinion Outpost is a reward site that offers financial incentives in exchange for participating in online surveys. The survey site is now limited to users in the United States. It doesn’t cost you a dime to sign up.
For each survey you complete, you earn a certain number of points. You can redeem these points for things like PayPal cash, gift cards to popular stores, and more.
The goal of Opinion Outpost is to bridge the gap between your genuine thoughts and the businesses that value them. Completing surveys results in financial compensation for the respondent. It’s a step towards improving their offering in the market.
As a division of the well-known survey company Survey Sampling International, Opinion Outpost enjoys a good reputation.
Don’t worry, your privacy remains protected in any information sharing. This means that the answers you give cannot be traced back to you in any way.
You won’t have to keep checking the website for updates, because you’ll receive an email when new surveys are available.
Don’t forget that if you want to participate in Opinion Outpost, you must reside in either North America or Europe.
Is Opinion Outpost a Scam or Legit?
The name Opinion Outpost is owned by Dynata, LLC (formerly Survey Sampling International).
Opinion World, OneOpinion and QuickThoughts are just a few of the survey sites owned by this company.
Dynata has been rated A+ by the BBB, and the Opinion Outpost brand has received a 4.4-star rating from more than 3,200 customers on Trustpilot.
Opinion Outpost claims on its website that it has over 2 million subscribers around the world and that it rewards its users “with the equivalent of $390,000 per month”
The vast majority of Trustpilot reviewers were satisfied with their experience. Common issues include not being able to participate in surveys and not receiving rewards for completing eligibility questions.
On Trustpilot, customers report that the company responds quickly. Opinion Outpost usually responds to bad reviews with a helpful offer of assistance.
Watch out for scammers using the Opinion Outpost name
The Better Business Bureau has received reports of fraudulent secret shopper checks involving Dynata and its brand names, including Opinion Outpost.
In these scams, a fictitious company typically sends a check and instructs the victim to use some of the money for his or her work as a “secret shopper,” save some for personal use and return the rest via wire transfer or prepaid gift card. This is unusual, and you are not crazy if you think so.
In order to avoid your bank discovering the fake check, the scammers rely on you to complete the tasks and transfer the “balance” immediately.
However, this is not how Opinion Outpost works. Stay away from any offers made by people claiming to represent Dynata, Opinion Outpost or any of their other survey companies.
Be vigilant to avoid typical Internet scams. Opinion Outpost may be a real company, but these offers are not.
How Does Opinion Outpost Work?
The system behind Opinion Outpost is simple. You fill out a profile survey that is used to find a job that will pay you. You can increase your badge by filling out more surveys. After you reach the payout limit, you can get free gift cards or PayPal cash.
After creating your profile on Opinion Outpost, you will be presented with an onboarding survey where you can earn 5 bonus points for participating.
This is a broad survey that helps the site find relevant questionnaires for you to complete. You can fill out additional profile questions to get more specific results. Questions about health, money, diet, grocery shopping, and technology use are all allowed.
Other than the general survey, there is no scoring system. The other surveys are all profile surveys and are currently unpaid.
Opinion Outpost conducts surveys on a wide range of topics, including banking, retail, and social issues.
When you log into your account, you will be presented with a selection of surveys that we think you would like to participate in. The average survey can be completed in 15-20 minutes and earns between $0.50 and $5 (5 to 50 points).
You can earn more points by participating in paid focus groups and home product testing than by completing simple surveys.
There’s a “badges” option in your Opinion Outpost profile. Your “achievements” represented by these levels include things like the number of surveys you’ve completed and how many times you’ve tried to complete them.
For example, to advance from Bronze to Silver, you need to complete at least 25% of your profile, take and complete your first survey, and receive your first survey credit.
Once you’ve completed all of the goals for a level, you’ll advance to the next level without having to do anything further. Every year your achievements are automatically deleted.
There are now 12 different rewards available on Opinion Outpost. Amazon, Apple, Target and Home Depot gift cards are among the most common forms of incentives.
You can also exchange your points for a Visa gift card or PayPal cash.
You can expect to receive about $0.10 for each point you collect. A minimum of 50 points is required to redeem a $5 Amazon gift card. One hundred points ($10) are required for all other rewards.
How Much Can You Make With Opinion Outpost?
How much money you make with Opinion Outpost depends entirely on you. The more surveys you complete, the more money you can earn.
Each point is worth ten cents and the minimum payout is three dollars. What I really like about Opinion Outpost is that you can see how much money you will earn and how long a survey will take before you decide whether or not to participate.
Take a look at the image below to understand how you can earn 5 Opinion Points with a 5-minute survey. This means that every five minutes you will earn half a dollar for your time. That’s a whopping $6 per hour.
Keep in mind that this is just a sample survey response. However, this is the range I usually see the prices in. Some surveys take as little as 5 minutes and earn 10 Opinion Points; these opportunities are rare, but they do exist. In other words, you can expect to pay $12 per hour.
The Amount of Surveys is Limited
It is impossible to get an hourly wage of $8. The number of surveys you can participate in is limited.
One of the best features of Opinion Outpost is that you do not have to log in every time you want to see if new offers are available. When new surveys that you qualify for are available, you will be notified via email.
You Earn More Than Just Opinion Points
Rewards for completing surveys often consist of more than just the survey itself. In most cases, you are also eligible to enter a drawing. Participation in the quarterly raffle of $10,000 and other prizes is usually included.
Who Can Join Opinion Outpost?
There are some countries where Opinion Outpost is not yet available.
In some countries there are other names for it, but everywhere else it is simply Opinion Outpost.
For example, the site is known as MeninungsOrt in Germany, Mon Opinion Compte in France, Centro di Opinione in Italy, MitPanel in Denmark, and Centro de Opinion in Spain.
Opinion Outpost is the name used in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.
Select the “Join” button further down the page to see if the site is accessible in your country.
Can You Get Support From Opinion Outpost?
It is critical to find out if help is available at a survey site. While we hope you never need it, it’s always a comfort to know you have access to technical support.
Opinion Outpost offers a support desk for users. You can ask a question through the website, and if you live in the US, you can even dial a phone number.
Opinion Outpost also has a presence on Facebook, where you can contact the company directly. It appears that the Facebook team promptly handles all comments and issues raised by users.
Quick responses are an encouraging sign of how the organization operates. However, several customers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the service’s customer support.
Tips For Taking Surveys
Although you are free to provide any information you wish in Opinion Outpost surveys, it is in your best interest to be as truthful as possible.
This is mainly because answers that differ too much may result in exclusion from the service. To help you participate in surveys, I have put together a short list of things to keep in mind.
Take your time
Avoid mistakes by taking your time and filling out the form carefully. This will help ensure that your answers are consistent and make completing the surveys more fun.
Be sure to use the correct terminology when answering questions that require you to fill in the blanks.
One survey at a time
Multiple surveys at once aren’t welcome at Opinion Outpost. Complete the first one before proceeding to the second.
In the long run, you’ll be glad you followed these principles, no matter how strict they may seem at first. If you’re looking for a survey site with a high payout rate, Opinion Outpost is the place for you.
Get Started With Opinion Outpost
Opinion Outpost’s onboarding process is painless. But don’t worry, we’ll explain everything in detail so you don’t mess it up.
Registration for Opinion Outpost is easy and free at this link. You can either fill out a form with your name, email address, and a password you create, or sign up with one of your existing social media accounts such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google Plus. When you are done, please verify your email.
2. Fill out some personal information and take a welcome survey
To access your profile, follow the instructions in the email and click on the link. The quality of your responses will affect the type of next surveys you receive, so please be honest.
After you provide some basic information, you’ll be directed to a welcome questionnaire. Be as accurate as possible, as this will help Opinion Outpost decide what type of surveys we’ll send you in the future. To reward you for participating in your first survey, we’ve credited you with 5 points (equivalent to $0.50 worth).
The long duration of the welcome survey is a common complaint about this survey site.
3. Start taking surveys
After you’ve completed your first survey, you may participate in additional surveys as you wish. In most cases, I don’t bother logging in to see if there are any new surveys, because I’m notified by email when there are.
As mentioned earlier, you should take your time. Opinion Outpost reserves the right to terminate your account if they determine that you’ve submitted incorrect information.
4. Cash out
For as little as 30 Opinion Points ($3 USD), you can cash out. You can redeem your points for PayPal cash or merchandise. You need at least 100 points ($10 USD) to cash out via PayPal. It can take a few days for your prizes to arrive, but I always find them in my email within minutes.
5. Participate in Drawings
Most surveys at Opinion Outpost earn you points and give you a chance to win a sweepstakes prize. Quarterly payments can range from $2,000 to $10,000.
6. Refer a Friend
One of the easiest ways to earn extra money with Opinion Outpost is to refer a friend. For each friend that signs up through your referral link, you will receive a fifty cent bonus (5 points).
The payout is small, but spreading the word via social media is as easy as posting a link. The maximum amount you can earn from referrals is $5.
How Do You Get Paid by Opinion Outpost?
Knowing that you can get paid to take surveys is one thing, but how exactly does Opinion Outpost compensate you for your time?
When deciding which survey sites are best for you, I think it comes down to the prices offered. Make sure you can get paid in a way that is convenient for you.
The methods offered by Opinion Outpost are some of the best out there. To name a few: You can get paid via PayPal, Amazon gift cards, prepaid MasterCards and other gift cards.
Rewards and gift cards vary by location, but PayPal is accepted worldwide and is a great, hassle-free option for converting points to cash.
Opinion Outpost users are rewarded with points for participating in online surveys. Once you have accumulated enough points, you can take advantage of one of the perks.
Depending on the reward you choose, the minimum earnings threshold at which you can request a cashout ranges from $5 for Amazon gift cards to $10 for PayPal payments, with the exception of the UK, where you can request a cashout once you earn £2.50.
The exact criteria also varies slightly from country to country, although the payout threshold is generally rather low in all countries.
Compared to the fastest paid survey sites, where members can usually earn enough for a payout on the day they sign up, Opinion Outpost’s survey volume may require a bit more patience.
Pros of Opinion Outpost
- Despite the personal questions, they do a good job of matching you with appropriate surveys.
- The quarterly raffle of $10,000 (but Canadians only get $1250). I would not think about it any more than a lottery ticket, but if you do decide to sign up, that’s obviously a plus.
- As a Canadian, I appreciate the fact that it’s available in Canada…and other countries as well.
- It should go without saying, but in this day and age, I appreciate that Opinion Outpost is reputable.
Cons of Opinion Outpost
- As with all paid online surveys, it is not a significant source of revenue. Especially considering how much time you have to spend on it.
- Sharing personal and confidential information.
- The minimum compensation is quite low at $10 (or 100 points), but you still have to wait a long time to see any money. For example, an email I received today asked me to fill out a 15-point survey that would take about 28 minutes.
Alternative Sites to Opinion Outpost
Don’t give up on Opinion Outpost just because you’ve exhausted your survey options there. There are plenty of other loyalty programmes out there. Below you’ll find some of our best offers.
If you’ve been reading FFL for any length of time, you know we’re big fans of the Ibotta app. That’s because of the huge welcome bonus, the high payout and the simple user interface.
The Ibotta app is a free service that compensates you for taking pictures of your receipts. You can get money back on your purchases by comparing the deals printed on your receipts with the deals available in the apps. If you’ve more than one receipt, you can redeem each one for a different promotion.
When you shop at Fred Meyer, you may find deals like fifty cents off a gallon of milk and twenty-five cents off granola bars. When you make the purchase and take a photo of the entire receipt, we’ll transfer 75 cents to your account within 48 hours, guaranteed.
An excellent feature of Ibotta is the $10 bonus you receive after redeeming your first offer.
Withdrawals from payment services like PayPal or Venmo, or physical gift cards, require a minimum balance of $20. Browse our collection of receipt scanning apps for suggestions on similar programmes.
2. Survey Junkie
As an alternative to Opinion Outpost, you can also try Survey Junkie. The main difference, however, is that these sites usually offer far more survey options.
When I originally signed up, there were about twenty surveys to choose from. Plus, you can participate in many of these surveys multiple times a day. What’s so great about that? The payout is much higher. If I focus on the better paying surveys, I can easily make $15 per hour.
Don’t waste your time on surveys that don’t pay well. Check back regularly to see if anything has changed. About every 5 days I go there and pick a few interesting surveys to fill out.
Swagbucks is probably the most well-known platform for earning points these days. Earn money by doing simple tasks on the internet. You can earn money in various ways, such as watching videos, making online purchases, clipping coupons, participating in online surveys, playing online games or filling out online surveys.
When you sign up for Swagbucks, you can expect to receive new offers frequently. After some trial and error, I found that I could earn at least $10 every hour.
The Swagbucks sign-up bonus is very variable. From nothing to $10, I’ve seen it all. The last time I checked, at least $5 was offered as a sign-up bonus.

This required some research on my part. There is conflicting information on Opinion Outpost’s website FAQ and Facebook page about whether or not the service offers a referral reward.

However, if you sign up for an account and complete the first profile survey, you will receive a $0.50 bonus.
Opinion Outpost Review: Final Verdict
As far as survey sites are concerned, Opinion Outpost is absolutely realistic.
Both the compensation and the usability of this platform are in line with those of similar offers.
The main drawbacks are that the profile questions are time-consuming and unpaid, and the badge system does not offer any financial incentive (additional surveys, bonuses, etc.).
Also, it is difficult to change your answers if your circumstances change.
Because of these issues and my interaction with customer service, where I received no information as to why my account was suspended, I feel compelled to say that I cannot recommend Opinion Outpost.
However, many other individuals have had fantastic experiences and have made numerous payouts.
Opinion Outpost might be worth a try if you’re looking for a new survey site with few bells and whistles, but respectable earnings and a low minimum payout criterion.
