Megyn Kelly Net Worth 2022 (Forbes) – Salary, Income, Husband

Megyn Kelly Net Worth

Megyn Kelly has an estimated net worth of $120 million. She is best known for the news program ‘The Kelly File’, which she hosted from October 7, 2013, to January 6, 2017. The show, which featured interviews as well as breaking news, news analysis, and in-depth investigative reports, was very popular and made her a household name in America. She earns a monthly salary of more than $1.9 million. Before that, she also earned a good salary as a lawyer.

Following her move to NBC, Megyn Kelly’s income increased exponentially. She was paid $69 million, which was the equivalent of $23 million per year, for her three-year contract with NBC, although some reports say that she was paid between $15 million and $20 million per year.

Kelly had worked at Fox News for 12 years. In Kelly’s last year at the channel, she earned $15 million. According to the New York Times, the cable news network offered her more than $20 million for her contract extension. NBC News realized they could not match Fox News’ money, the Times reports, despite being courted by rival news networks.

So NBC likely convinced Kelly with a package that would make her a star on the network – giving her a larger audience – with a salary of between $15 million and $20 million. NBC signed Megyn Kelly to a three-year, $69 million contract, but her show’s ratings have been disappointing. Tamron Hall and Al Roker, who previously hosted her show, earned less than half of Kelly’s salary with higher ratings.

“Megyn Kelly Today” averages 2.4 million viewers. At the same time on ABC, “Live With Kelly and Ryan” reaches 3 million viewers.

Megyn Kelly has been featured on the covers of magazines such as Vanity Fair and Variety, and in 2014, TIME magazine named her to its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. In 2016, she published her memoir Settle for More.

Legal Career

Megyn Kelly made more than $3 million as a lawyer. In the United States, lawyers made a median salary of $126,930 in 2020. After graduation from Albany Law School, Kelly found employment as an associate at the business law firm of Bickel & Brewer and moved to Chicago in 1997.

Kelly then became a trial attorney at Jones Day, where she worked for nearly a decade. The average trial attorney in the U.S. earns $101,812. The average bonus for a trial attorney is $6,961, which is 7% of the salary. 100% of employees report receiving a bonus each year, according to Comparably.

Became A Journalist

Megyn Kelly earned a good salary as a journalist. Kelly returned to her earlier ambitions as a journalist when the ABC news station WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., hired her as a freelance reporter. Kelly quickly established herself on the D.C. journalism scene, covering the 2004 elections and Supreme Court nomination hearings for ABC. According to PayScale, the average salary for a Journalist is $42107 in 2021.

That same year, she made the leap to the national stage as a Washington correspondent for Fox News. This would prove to be an important step on her path to becoming one of the highest-paid television journalists in the country.

Fox News Host Salary

Kelly’s salary increased exponentially when she began to host Fox News Shows. In Kelly’s last year at the channel, she was paid $15 million a year.

The show included a segment titled “Kelly’s Court,” in which she used her legal expertise to analyze news reports. On that show, Kelly established herself as an expert host who was not afraid to challenge her guests with tough questions.

After her maternity leave, Kelly returned to Fox to host the newly created program Kelly File, in which she covered such important events as the Boston Marathon bombing, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and the Duke College rape case.

During her time at Fox, Kelly caused a stir with her claims about the “whiteness” of Jesus and Santa Claus and her rejection of the label “feminist,” while angering some of Fox’s typically conservative viewers with her vocal support of same-sex marriage.

Despite these controversies, however, Kelly became one of the most popular news journalists on television, surpassing Fox News colleague Bill O’Reilly in rank among younger viewers.

NBC News Host Salary

Kelly shared the move on Facebook, “More than a dozen years ago, I started a job at Fox News that would change my life. Now I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched by the experiences I have had.”

Houses

Given Megyn Kelly’s wealth, you can assume that her house is more expensive than ordinary people’s. And since real estate is a common investment vehicle, we can safely assume that she owns several houses.

According to online rumors, Megyn’s in-laws have an estate in Beach Haven, NJ, which she and her husband visit from time to time.

It was reported that she lived at 71 Broadway, New York City, NY, but neither her nor her husband’s name appears in the building’s real estate records. Currently, Kelly is believed to be living with her family in Rye, Westchester County, NY – reportedly near Egg Harbor.

As for her real estate portfolio, this woman knows exactly how to keep her private life private.

Controversies

Donald Trump Debacle

Kelly gained new notoriety when she challenged presidential candidate Donald Trump during the GOP debate in August 2015, asking him to explain his sexist remarks about women in the past.

Trump was outraged by her question and retaliated after the debate by calling Kelly “overrated,” “crazy,” “angry” and “a bimbo.” He also said on CNN that blood was coming out of her eyes and that “blood was coming out of her everywhere.” Prior to that incident, Kelly said Trump had tried several times to get her to give positive coverage to his campaign.

“This is indeed one of the untold stories of the 2016 campaign,” Ms. Kelly writes in her book Settle for More. “I was not the only journalist to whom Trump offered gifts that were clearly intended to influence coverage. Many reporters have told me that Trump worked hard to offer them something fabulous – from hotel rooms to rides on his 757.”

Despite Trump’s mistreatment of Kelly, Fox News did not come to her aid. In fact, CEO Roger Ailes had a friendly relationship with Trump.

The two 70-something moguls were both accused of sexual harassment by various women, and Kelly eventually revealed that she had also been a victim of Ailes, as had Fox host Gretchen Carlson, who was the first woman to speak out publicly against Ailes.

‘Megyn Kelly Today’ and Blackface

NBC launched the morning show Megyn Kelly Today in September 2017, but the anchor’s start was bumpy when Jane Fonda got upset over a question about plastic surgery and she never really found her feet in her new home.

On Oct. 23, 2018, Kelly made a controversial remark on Megyn Kelly Today about people wearing blackface makeup on Halloween. “What’s racist?” she asked. “You really get in trouble if you are a white person who wears blackface on Halloween or a black person who wears white makeup. … When I was a kid, that was fine as long as you dressed up like a character.”

The comment quickly went viral and despite Kelly’s apology, NBC canceled her show two days later. In January 2019, it was announced that the two sides had negotiated her departure from the network.

In the months that followed, Kelly kept a low profile before reappearing on Tucker Carlson Tonight in October 2019 to discuss NBC’s handling of sexual assault allegations against former host Matt Lauer.

After appearing on Instagram in November, she promptly posted an interview with a recently fired CBS employee accused of leaking a “Hot Mic” moment from ABC’s Amy Robach to the right-wing activist group Project Veritas.

Later in the year, Kelly would be portrayed by Charlize Theron in Bombshell, a drama about the culture of harassment and secrecy among Ailes during Kelly’s time at Fox News.

There are women who literally squeeze a baby out of their bodies or get cut open in major surgery, have a human being, the next generation of the human race pulled from their bodies, and within a couple of weeks have to go back to work, because if they don’t, they can’t pay their bills.
