Benioff grew up in a Jewish family in the San Francisco area. He graduated from Burlingame High School in California in 1982. He is the first cousin of producer, director, and novelist David Benioff.

Career

While still in high school, Benioff sold his first app, How to Juggle, for $75. At the age of 15, he founded Liberty Software and developed and sold games like “Flapper” for Atari 8-bit

Epyx published his games “King Arthur’s Heir,” “The Nightmare,” “Escape from Vulcan’s Isle” and “Crypt of the Undead,” and by the age of 16 Benioff was earning $1,500 a month, enough to pay for college

While in college, Benioff completed internships as an assembly language programmer at Apple Computer’s Macintosh division.
