Early Life

Malcolm James McCormick was born on January 19, 1992, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father was an architect, and his mother was a photographer. His parents practice different religions. His mother was Jewish, but his father was Christian.

Mac Miller grew up Jewish and had a Bar Mitzvah. Mac Miller grew up in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Point Breeze. Later, he attended Winchester Thurston School and Taylor Allderdice High School.

Mac Miller used to be interested in sports and was always eager to attend high school parties when he was in school.

Mac Miller was also interested in music and learned to play various instruments such as the piano, drums, bass, and guitar. He was a self-taught musician who never took music lessons.

Drug Addiction & Death

Miller and his friends were arrested for marijuana possession during a tour to Upstate New York in February 2011, and they had to spend the night in jail. However, the case was later settled.

Mac Miller revealed that he used a combination of promethazine and codeine known as “purple drank” or “lean” to manage stress during his Macadelic Tour in 2012.

He stopped using promethazine in November 2012, just before filming for his reality show, ‘Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family,’ began.

On September 7, 2018, he died of an apparent drug overdose at his Studio City home in Los Angeles.
