LiveOps Review – Scam or Legit? Truth Exposed!

Are you looking for a LiveOps review? But you may wonder if it is a scam.

Whether you’re looking for a home office for financial reasons or to get away from it all, virtual contact centers like Liveops offer a real alternative.

However, the question remains whether Liveops can be considered a legal company.

That you can make money from home with little or no effort is a common myth. With a company like Liveops, you can start your day without worrying about your boss, your unpleasant colleagues, or the traffic around you.

It sounds tempting, but what’s the catch?

As a disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with LiveOps. It means I’m not paid to write this review. So you can rest assured that you will get an honest and unbiased review from me.

At the end of this review, I’ll also tell you the best alternative to LiveOps that has enabled me to make a full-time passive income online.

What Is Liveops?

The services offered by Liveops, a company that operates from home, are classified as call centers. They use remote customer service and sales staff to support a wide range of businesses, from direct response and retail to banking and healthcare.

Liveops was founded in 2000 and currently has a total of 240 employees, both in-house and remote. Twenty years later, and with the gig economy thriving, the company remains at the forefront of online services.

Liveops, which is led by Chief Executive Officer Greg Hanover, works with multinational companies across a variety of industries to provide on-demand workers to its clients through independent contractors like you.

Is Liveops a Scam or Legit Company?

It is common knowledge that one must beware of possible fraud. The situation has become so acute that we no longer trust emails purporting to come from big companies like Amazon, Netflix, or even our own banks.

Fraudsters posing as representatives of these organizations are behind these messages.

There is no reason to worry about the legitimacy of Liveops. The company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and also has offices in Redwood City, California; Portland, Oregon; and Dayton, Ohio. Liveops has been providing virtual services for nearly 20 years, and in that time has handled over 100 million calls and generated $2 billion in annual customer revenue. You can trust Liveops.

However, Liveops is vulnerable to a popular scam in the work-from-home market, similar to phishing emails posing as big companies.

Fake job postings from bogus organizations like Liveops and other work-from-home companies like Arise and Appen are spread through global job boards.

The scammers exploit the personal information of job seekers who respond to these ads and the trust they inspire to commit bank fraud by sending them bogus checks for the alleged cost of office supplies, technology and other items.

This scam is multi-faceted and constantly evolving.

One way to avoid it is to communicate with Liveops (or any other reputable home-based business) only through verified channels, such as a domain email issued by the company. … is the correct format for official Liveops correspondence.

As mentioned earlier, Liveops is reputable as it offers real addresses and phone numbers where you can get in touch with real people in case of any questions or issues.

Liveops also offers social media channels for communication. Liveops’ Facebook profile dates back to 2007 and now has over 8,000 likes and followers (the contact number is also listed there).

You can also find them on Twitter, where they are constantly posting new content. More than 5,000 tweets have been posted, and the number of followers on the account is well into seven figures.

The main question is not whether Liveops is real or not, but rather whether they have a job or not (which I will discuss in more detail below).

How Does Liveops Work?

Finding a job on Liveops is easy (although finding a job isn’t necessarily easy). You use this platform the same way most people use job boards: You’re looking for a job that matches your specific qualifications.

Of course, there are others who’re applying for that job.

Liveops Jobs and Opportunities

Liveops often hires for the following types of remote call center jobs:

  1. Inbound sales
  2. Roadside assistance
  3. Technical support
  4. Insurance (claims)
  5. Insurance (sales)
  6. Customer service (general)
  7. Food order taking
  8. Healthcare
  9. Payroll support

Each job posting contains a range of information including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Available hours – There are jobs that you can do whenever you want, and there are also jobs that have fixed hours (e.g., 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Some of them are marked “Varies by Client,” which means they are customizable.
  • Hours per week – There are mandatory minimum weekly work hours to maintain your status as a Liveops independent agent. You’ll see numbers like “no minimum”, “20 hours”, “10 hours” or, again, “varies per client”, etc.
  • Personality – The “Personality” section will help you determine if a particular job is a good fit for you. Character traits such as openness, methodicalness, patience, and familiarity with modern technology, etc.
  • Skills and Experience – Considering your previous work experience in a particular industry helps us find the best job for you. For example, some positions require experience in customer service, technical support, data entry, or similar.

How Do You Become a Liveops Agent?

Fierce competition for liveops agent positions and other jobs where you can work from home is the biggest obstacle to getting into the industry.

When you apply for a job in your immediate neighborhood, you are only competing with other locals for the job. There may only be a few other applicants in the running with you.

However, when it comes to working from home, you may be up against applicants from all over the country. So while there are advantages to working remotely, it can be more difficult to find a job.

Liveops Work-at-Home Job Application

Next to each job posting is a button that says “Apply Now.”

If you’d like to apply, please follow these instructions:

  1. A link to the careers page can be found by clicking the Apply button. A complete list of current job openings can be found below.
  2. Read through the job descriptions of each section and choose the ones that apply to you. This isn’t rocket science, I know. Still, we can’t always determine for ourselves which options are optimal.

Make a list of your skills and be honest about your weaknesses before choosing a job. What we’d like to do and what we’re good at aren’t necessarily the same thing (as our friends and family usually like to tell us, hehe), so this information is important before deciding on a career path.

Even if you excel at technical support, dealing with consumers on a daily basis can be enough to throw you off your game. This feeling is shared by others as well. The ability to be patient and excellent with consumers is a trait that few possess. Unfortunately, not all of us are.

  1. You will then be redirected to the job description page where you can customise your application accordingly. Details such as educational requirements, salary expectations, etc. will also be listed there…
  2. You need to have a valid email address and a strong password ready to create your Liveops account after you click the “Apply” button. Use a different password for each account; this should go without saying, but I sometimes have to remind myself.
  3. In the next step, you will be asked to fill out a profile and submit your application materials. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that includes your hobbies and other interests.

Liveops will review your account after you complete these steps and contact you if you pass the pre-screening.

Liveops Job Qualifications

Liveops virtual call centers require the same skills as traditional call center employment. Make sure you meet the requirements before submitting an application.

  1. You must be a legal resident of the United States.
  2. You must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. You must be a resident of a state they recognize (see screenshot below). Canada is not supported during the current assessment period.

Liveops Job Requirements

The minimum to be a successful independent liveops agent is as follows:

  1. A quiet workplace – any place free of interruptions will do (no children, pets, noise, etc.).
  2. A computer in mint condition (see below for specific requirements)
  3. Wired internet connection 4. Telephone – Depending on the nature of your work, this may be a traditional landline phone or computer-based softphone software.
  4. Headset – Again, depending on your needs, this may be a wired headset (for landline connection) or a USB headset (for computer connection).

Computer Requirements for Liveops Jobs

A portable or stationary computer with a wired internet connection is sufficient (no WiFi). Since this is a call center position, a reliable internet connection is critical.

For your PC (which will likely be your primary work tool in this industry), we recommend at least the following:

  • 1GHz Intel Pentium P4 Processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • Windows Operating System
  • Internet Explorer or Firefox Browser

The latest is the best, of course. Currently they do not offer support for Apple products.

LiveOps Background and Credit Check

It depends on you to what extent you are comfortable with this requirement.

Liveops requires a thorough background and credit check because you will be handling confidential information and representing the brand of a particular company.

Your hesitation is understandable. As a business owner, I can understand the need for such a check as well. This requirement ensures that Liveops acts responsibly toward its customers, and it reduces the possibility of fraud that could jeopardise the safety of everyone involved.

The procedures for conducting background and credit checks should include the following:

  • They use a third-party vendor (Checkr) for background and credit checks, for which you must pay $45 (which is non-refundable).
  • To pass the check, all of your information must be coherent and verifiable.
  • You may be required to provide an ID card, passport, work visa, and utility bill with your address, among other things.
  • To be hired, you must pass a background and credit check.

Please note that while Liveops doesn’t charge for registration or certification (although you’ll not be compensated for your time spent doing so), a credit and background check will cost you.

To make money online without leaving home, you can also use survey sites like Survey Junkie and Inbox Dollars.

These sites don’t pay very much- certainly not as much as Liveops – but they’re a good place to start if you can’t meet Liveops’ requirements for a good credit score and a clean criminal record.

You could also think about starting a one-person online business. Without a manager, there’s no criminal record check.

An online business has its drawbacks, but if you need to stay home to take care of your children or if you can’t work regularly for health reasons, it can be your salvation.

If you want to earn a living exclusively online, you need to have an idea of how to get started.

How Much Does Liveops Pay?

Your final salary at Liveops will depend on a number of factors, including the role you take on, your benefits, and the number of hours per week you work.

Liveops’ website states that compensation is approximately $0.25 per minute of talk time. Sometimes commissions and incentives are offered in addition to the base salary.

It is reasonable to charge 25 cents per minute of talk time, although this amount may increase depending on the volume of incoming calls or the frequency of outgoing calls. You will not get rich on this kind of salary… However, if you talk for a whole hour, you will receive $15.

However, you may only be able to talk for one hour out of those three hours.

So we do not refer to the actual working time, but to the talking time. If you were at your job for three hours but only had one hour of talk time, that would cost you $5.00 per hour.

If you are employed, you should have multiple jobs, including lifeops. Freelance writing is just one example; you could also use sites like Fiverr and Upwork to offer services like image editing, logo design, etc.

Of course, Lifeops is your top priority, and you will have to give up your work as soon as a call comes in. However, if you find that you have more quiet time than talk time, you should make the most of it.

Although the compensation might be minimal, this is not always the case (you can get a lot of talk time and a handsome salary). You will be relieved to learn that payment through Liveops is straightforward.

You’ll be paid by direct bank transfer or by check once you have invoiced (the choice is yours). The winnings are distributed every two weeks.

About Liveops Certification

Now let us move on to the topic of licensing. Every new employee at Liveops must go through an orientation process. Before taking calls, all new agents must first complete a training program.

The certification program is tailored to the specific brand or client you will be working with. The time required for the entire course can range from hours to days. How quickly you progress depends on your own abilities, as you set your own pace. It usually takes about two weeks to get certified.

Liveops offers the certification free of charge. You will not be compensated for the time you spend on the certification. Rather, think of it as an investment. Also, the faster you can grow your call center business from home, the more programs you should license.

When Does Liveops Pay?

Liveops has a two-week payment cycle. Each check covers work done in the previous two weeks. To get paid for your time, you must first submit an invoice. If you want to be paid correctly, you should carefully record your hours worked.

Liveops Reviews and Complaints

Liveops has been in business for a while, so naturally they’ve testimonials from satisfied customers to offer. The average rating on is 3.44 out of 5, based on over 400 ratings and reviews from actual customers. Indeed, that’s not a bad score in this area.

When I weigh the pros and cons, I find that the former far outweigh the latter.

Among the advantages, people seem to value work-life balance and financial security the most.

One obvious disadvantage is that people aren’t compensated for waiting.

Not everyone appreciated having to undergo a credit check and background investigation, though that’s to be expected. Some testers complained about being pressured to do unnecessary add-ons or read off scripts.

In my opinion, these problems are not decisive, but they are not trivial either. That is, not in a way that would preclude the possibility of liveops.

Once again, there is fierce competition in the live-ops market. Competition is fierce, and that means some companies like Liveops, Teletech, and Transcom, to name a few, may pay less and charge more than many local companies.

It’s not even that they intend to exploit their sales staff (although some might). The fact that they are all competing for your business means lower prices and higher standards of service (such as encouraging upsells).

I understand that this may sound like a defense of liveops and similar home-based businesses, but I want you to know that this is not my intention. I just want to state the facts of the business world. No one should expect to enjoy it.

However, your ultimate goal as a freelancer may be to break into new areas or accumulate enough clients to start your own business. Work-at-home businesses are a fantastic approach to starting your own business.

However. There are also testimonials about liveops on the website. The reviews on Glassdoor and elsewhere are consistent with an overall rating of 3.8 (based on 640 reviews).

Again, there is (as expected) a balance of good and negative feedback, with benefits including a competitive salary and adaptable work hours.

Others have noted that while working at Liveops helps make ends meet, they are unlikely to rely on it as a primary source of income.

The drawbacks align with those listed on Glassdoor. Due to the intense competition among agents and the lack of compensation for wait times, it can be difficult to get a sufficient number of calls.

Liveops has a perfect A+ rating with the BBB, which is remarkable for a company in this sector. Of all the complaints I read, the one that stood out the most was the one that said applicants had to pay $45 for their own credit and background checks and then weren’t even hired.

Another reviewer reported that he was unable to contact the company after his account was suspended.

To be fair, very few, if any, companies that do as much business as Liveops have managed to avoid receiving negative feedback. There are times when complaints are warranted, and times when they result from misunderstandings or missed opportunities.

However, we can only make assumptions without being directly involved in these processes.

Pros of Liveops

Flexibility is a key benefit of working at Liveops. Your schedule is completely flexible. You can, in a sense, “choose your own destiny” by seeking and taking advantage of the experiences and training that will help you reach your full potential.

Most jobs require you to work a certain number of hours per week to keep your job. The minimum number of hours can be up to 10 hours per week, depending on the needs of the client.

While the income is not great with liveops (unless you are earning high commissions), it’s a fantastic stepping stone to a future with remote work. It’s a great way to earn some money on the side when you have some free time.

Liveops is a great side income, and many of the most successful agents also have full-time jobs. It could be a great way to test out a home office career.

Cons of Liveops Jobs

Although cold calling is not for everyone, it often offers the best opportunities. In all other cases, the salary is at the lower end of the spectrum.

Many of the interested customers who call have seen an advertisement for the products in a commercial, in the mail, or elsewhere and want to learn more.

Customers will appreciate the excellent service they receive from you, and your own earnings will increase as a result of your friendly and knowledgeable assistance.

In addition, you’ll have to use a dedicated phone line for liveops only. This means that you may only have one room in your house that serves as your “home office” So, for example, you cannot take work calls while on vacation, but you can change your business address if you’ll be away for a while. This is 100% remote work.

Although training opportunities don’t usually come with a salary, they can pave the way to a higher salary. It’s often difficult to earn as much money as you’d like from home on a commission basis.

What I Like About Liveops

  • Liveops offers a legitimate way to work from home.
  • Their pay scale is competitive.
  • Free training courses are offered to help independent agents improve their skills and knowledge.
  • There are no registration fees.
  • Liveops Nation offers fantastic support to their independent representatives.

What I Don’t Like About Liveops

  • End-of-day pay for independent liveops representatives is not always favorable because you are not compensated for the time between calls.
  • Training time is unpaid.
  • Background and credit checks to pay for with no guarantee of employment.

Alternatives To Liveops

Don’t worry if you can’t find a suitable Liveops job or are unhappy with this employer for other reasons. You can still find reputable customer service jobs, such as those listed below:

  1. Concentrix
  2. Sutherland
  3. TTEC
  4. Sykes
  5. Teleperformance

LiveOps Review: Final Verdict

Perhaps not everyone would like to work live. Although working from home as a virtual call center agent might be interesting for you, you should ask yourself if being a call center agent is really your dream job.

However, if you already have call center skills and are clear about what you’re getting into, liveops might be worth considering.

When financial obligations pile up and stress increases, a career that allows you to work from the comfort of your home can be a lifesaver. That’s an opportunity you may find at Liveops.

Maybe you’re a full-time student or a stay-at-home mom. Maybe you’ve health issues that prevent you from working in a traditional setting, and you’ll find that an online business is the best option for you.
