Lil Nas X Net Worth
Lil Nas X has an estimated net worth of $25 million. An American rapper, singer, and songwriter, Lil Nas X is best known for his song “Old Town Road,” which famously mixed rap and country genres to create a totally unique sound. He earns most of his income from album sales, concerts and music streaming.
Nas has the social media savvy to make his work stand out in a crowded landscape, which helped with his breakthrough “Old Town Road.” It first went viral on TikTok, but eventually charted in a number of countries, earning a diamond certification in 2019.
After that, Nas created a meaningful yet attention-grabbing first album, Montero (2021). The record contains hits like “Industry Baby” and “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”; the personal song “Sun Goes Down” is about how the young Nas struggled with being gay.
Forbes reports that Lil Nas X made $14 million alone in 2020. The factor that contributed the most to his success was likely “Old Town Road,” plus his deals with Roblox, the success of the singles “HOLIDAY” and “Rodeo,” released that year and his modeling for Rihanna’s Fenty Skin.
Lil Nas X also had product placement and branding agreements with Durex, Wrangler, Logitech, Panera, MSCHF (for his infamous “Satan Shoes”), Taco Bell, and UberEats.
To calculate the net worth of Lil Nas X, subtract all his liabilities from his total assets. Investments, savings, cash deposits, and any equity he has in a house, car, or other similar asset are included in the total assets.
All debts, such as personal loans and mortgages, are included in total liabilities.

Montero Lamar Hill, better known as Lil Nas X, was born on April 9, 1999, in Lithia Springs, Georgia. His mother nicknamed him Montero after the Mitsubishi Montero, a car she admired.
Nas and his brothers moved with their mother and great-grandmother to a public housing project in Atlanta that was notorious for drugs and violence after his parents divorced when he was six. After a custody battle, Nas and his older brother were forced to move to the Atlanta suburbs to live with their father and stepmother.
Nas has stated that he has known he was gay since he was five years old. As he grew older, he experienced the abuse and homophobia endured by others who came out, and he chose to remain in hiding for the rest of his life. Nas had to go to church because his father was a gospel musician. There was a time when I thought, “If I have these feelings, it’s just a test. A temporary test. It’s going to go away. God is just tempting me.”
In high school, Nas kept a low profile. His main focus was on his online life as a Nicki Minaj superfan. Nas interacted with other Minaj fans – the Barbz – on Twitter as @nasmaraj and learned how to get attention on social media.
Nas enrolled at the University of West Georgia to study computer science, but he hated it. He started writing songs and discovered he loved making music. To his father’s chagrin, he dropped out of school to focus on music.
‘Old Town Road’ Commercial Success
After leaving college, Nas lived with his sister and spread his music online. He became aware of the popularity of country trap videos that mixed country music and Southern-style hip-hop. Using a beat he bought online for $30, he created his own country trap song called “Old Town Road.” “That was the first song I really formulated,” he told Rolling Stone. “I thought, ‘I need to make it short, I need to make it catchy.'”
Nas posted the tune on SoundCloud in December 2018. His social media skills helped the song go viral on TikTok and spread to other sites. In March 2019, “Old Town Road” made it to three Billboard charts: the Hot 100, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Country Songs. It was then removed from the country charts.
Billboard’s official reason was that Nas’ song “does not contain enough elements of today’s country music,” but many wondered if the fact that Nas is a black man influenced the decision. (Billboard said race was not a factor).
Amid this controversy, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and on April 5, 2019, he released a remix of “Old Town Road” that he recorded with Billy Ray Cyrus, a 1990s country star whom Nas knew through his role in Hannah Montana.
With the help of remixes by Cyrus and others, “Old Town Road” set a record by staying at the top of the Hot 100 chart for 19 weeks.
Forbes reports that “Old Town Road” generated a whopping $14 million in profits.
The album is certified 15x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with 15 million units, the first record to ever achieve this distinction.
Signed to Columbia Records
Following the commercial success of “Old Town Road,” Nas signed with Columbia Records in March 2019.
There was a bidding war between several major labels to snag him-and he rejected a $1 million deal with Amuse before signing with Columbia. Columbia Records probably had to sweeten the pot to more than $1 million to work with Lil Nas X, who is definitely worth every penny.
His following two songs, “Panini” and “Rodeo,” were well received, but nothing he released could compare to “Old Town Road.” And his seventh album EP, released in 2019, did not do as well as he thought it would. Nas has said that with this recording, he felt like he was playing it safe.
Rodeo has sold 110,000 copies in the United States as of November 2015. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in May 2017 for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over one million.
Earnings From Other Songs & Albums
The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 126,000 equivalent units, of which 22,000 were pure album sales.
Nas revealed during the original COVID -19 lockdown that he grew while working on his debut album Montero. The single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” was released in March 2021. “I know we vowed to never come out publicly, I know we vowed to never be ‘that’ kind of gay person, I know we promised to die with the secret, but this will open doors for many more queer people to just exist,” Nas wrote to his younger self.
The video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” was inspired by Christian imagery and the idea that homosexuality excludes a person from salvation. Nas’ use of social media allowed him to easily deflect criticism while drawing attention to his work.
The video and accompanying release of “Satan Shoes” sparked outrage on the Internet, with Nas declaring, “Love trumps hate many times over.”. “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time.
Before releasing his album in September 2021, Nas posted pictures of himself with a large pregnant belly. “I am like a mother sending her child into the world,” he told People Magazine about the album’s release. He collaborates with Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow and Doja Cat on the album.
Lil Nas X made some serious Christmas cash with “HOLIDAY”. In November 2020, the song reached platinum status in the United States, Australia, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden, as well as double platinum in Brazil.
Though he hasn’t disclosed his profits, his streaming, sales, and merchandise tie-ins probably mean he made a lot of money off the tune.
Lil Nas X became the third artist to have a No. 1 single with “Industry Baby” in October 2021. The album has racked up more than 14 million combined sales and streaming equivalents worldwide.
Kanye West co-produced the song, which means it was more expensive to produce than much of Lil Nas X’s previous work-and much more expensive than “Old Town Road.”
We don’t know West’s exact profits for the song, but we can assume Columbia Records, Jack Harlow, and Columbia got a large share.
In November 2020, Lil Nas X’s Roblox shows attracted over 33 million visitors, a spokesperson for the game told Billboard. Besides the money he earned for performing, he also made a lot of money off of merchandise that was tied to the Roblox performances.
According to Roblox’s global head of music Jon Vlassopulos, merch sales for Nas is approaching eight figures.
Since Lil Nas X is rich, he owns some luxurious cars. Let’s take a look at his car collection.
|Lil Nas X Car Collection||Price (USD)|
|Ford Mustang Convertible||$33,000|
|Maserati Gran Turismo||$134,390|
|Mercedes-Benz GLE53 AMG||$116,000|
1. Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Lil Nas X’s Car Collection begins with the American Muscle. The Ford Mustang is a fun car to drive, and it comes with a variety of performance packages that can alter its handling. But its standard turbo four-cylinder engine isn’t very exciting, and the interior quality isn’t great either.
The Mustang can be converted into a convertible or a coupe. It can be purchased with either a turbo four-cylinder or a 5.0-litre V8 engine, both of which are connected to the rear axle. Both can be mated to a 10-speed manual or automatic transmission.
2. Maserati Gran Turismo
The next car is the “Old Town Road” car of Lil Nas X, which is very famous. All GranTurismos have a 4.7 litre V8 engine from Maserati. This small, lightweight engine was made by Ferrari. It makes 454 hp, has 384 lb-ft of torque, and can rev to an impressive 7,500 rpm. It has the legendary sound of a powerful, naturally aspirated, all-Italian V8 engine.
3. Mercedes GLE53
This GLE is the last on the list. The Mercedes AMG GLE53 has a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine with electric boost. This engine is powered by an electric motor and can reach a maximum output of 429 HP and 384 lb-ft of torque.
It has a 9-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with all-wheel drive. It takes just 4.7 seconds to get from 0 to 60 mph. When cornering, the air suspension does its job perfectly without degrading handling.
Lil Nas X bought a new house in Sherman Oaks, California, in 2021 for $2.35 million. For a 21-year-old, that’s a pretty nice place to start.
Nas’ 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home was built in 1950. At 2,580 square feet, it’s not exactly a mansion, but it’s close enough to be called a starter home.
It has high-end finishes and amenities like a master suite with a large walk-in closet and a private balcony, just like most larger celebrity homes. A sliding door leads to a custom bathroom with a freestanding tub, rain shower and dual sinks. All other rooms have private baths and are designated “en suite.”
There is also a gourmet kitchen with a large island and high-end appliances such as a double oven and wine refrigerator. There is also a fireplace, built-in speakers, a finished garage, wide plank hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings and a “secret room,” according to the listing.
There is also a large backyard with a hot tub, patio and outdoor bath. The fenced yard has great views of the surrounding hills and the city in the distance.
At the 62nd Grammy Awards in January 2020, Nas won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for “Old Town Road.”
In 2021, C Is for Country, his children’s book about Lil Nas X and Panini the Pony, became a bestseller.
In May 2021, Nas performed “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” and “Sun Goes Down” on Saturday Night Live. His pants ripped during his performance, but he later tweeted that this malfunction wasn’t planned.
The Trevor Project awarded Nas the Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year Award in September 2021. He said in response, “If using my voice and expressing myself in my music can help even one kid out there who feels alone, then it was all worth it.”
Nas decided to no longer hide his sexuality as his fame grew. First, he told his sister and brother about his sexual orientation, then his father. His father initially doubted that Nas was lured by the devil, but eventually accepted and supported his son.
Nas came out publicly on June 30, 2019, the last day of Pride Month. After his performance at the Glastonbury Festival’s Pride concert, he urged his fans to listen carefully to his song “C7osure (You Like)” to find out if he is gay.
Nas was aware that revealing this information would upset some of his country and hip-hop colleagues and followers. Some rappers have made homophobic comments about him and have also criticized the clothes he has worn on red carpets.
However, he stands by his decision. In an interview from 2021, Nas stated, “I honestly felt like it was kind of my duty. Especially if I wanted to move forward.”
Personal Life & Spouse
Lil Nas X dated dancer Yai Ariza, who appeared in his “That’s What I Want” music video, in 2021.
However, Nas admitted after the relationship was over, “I’m at this point in my life where I finally realized that I don’t want to fall in love. I’m so focused on my music career, and love takes a lot of time. It’s a lot of responsibility, and I don’t think I’m ready to have that extra responsibility on my shoulders right now. When it happens, it’s going to happen.”
Lil Nas X stands at 6 feet and 2 inches tall.
