I have a passion to help people explore money-making opportunities online. Over the years, I have reviewed many programs like Freemote.

In the past week, I have done thorough research about Freemote so I can tell you more about it.

As a disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with Freemote. It means I’m not paid to write this review. So you can be sure that my words are unbiased.

At the end of this review, I’ll also tell you a better alternative that has enabled me to make a full-time passive income online.

In this Freemote review, I’m going to cover the following.

Who Is Aaron Jack And Jan Frey?

Freemote was created by Aaron Jack and Jan Frey. There isn’t too much information out there about these two.

According to Aaron, he learned coding at an online bootcamp for nearly $18,000.

Following that, he got a job as a web developer with Uber.

The YouTube channel on which he produces coding videos currently has more than 200k subscribers.

Despite his lesser awareness, Jan Frey has a great deal of experience working for Shopify agencies.

Freemote Overview

A primary focus of Freemote is on eCommerce and Shopify, but it also teaches you web development and coding.

It is their belief that Shopify is the best place to grow because of the biggest opportunity.

The eCommerce industry is growing at a rapid pace so I understand their position. Shopify is also the most popular eCommerce platform.

Freemote provides 190 lessons and 30 hours of training over 7 weeks to help you build Shopify eCommerce websites.

Here are a few highlights from each week:

Week 1: HTML And CSS

In the first week, you’ll get 5 hours of instruction covering HTML and CSS. There are beginner and advanced lessons on both of these topics.

Week 2: Javascript Mechanics

You will learn how to program Javascript during the second week.

Freemote Pricing

Freemote is priced at $1659.

A coding bootcamp can range in price from $30,000-$50,000. Does Freemote offer the same level of training as one of the 9-month bootcamps? Not really.

But if you really want to side hustle as a Shopify developer it may be worth it. Just don’t expect to earn six figures as a Shopify expert anytime soon.

Freemote Pros And Cons

The Pros

  • The course is specialized in coding for Shopify and eCommerce rather than just general coding.
  • The price is pretty fair compared to other coding classes for teaching how to make money online.
  • 30 days is considered a reasonable period for a refund policy.

The Cons

  • Training necessary: I believe you’ll need more training than just taking this course to land lucrative gigs.
  • Coding is a skill that requires serious study and practice to become proficient.

Is Freemote a Scam?

Freemote course is definitely not a scam.

It is a legitimate course from two people who are experts in the coding industry, and it’s possible to make money from freelance coding.

Learning to code is one of my generation’s biggest mantras. It appears that there are a million coding jobs out there, and coding is a valuable skill.

However, it’s best to invest in a college degree if you want to land a good job so you can charge more for your services.

In fact, coding is a challenging way to earn money online. It will take a lot of time to learn.

There are other alternatives that allow you to build an online business and earn passive income.

  1. Apply for Freemote at your own risk. I asked for a refund several times and was ignored. They keep your credit card information and charge you without notice.

    • Hi Chris

Aaron Jack here founder of Freemote.

We use standard payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) with buyer protection — and we refund all of our students 100% of what they have paid as soon as they send an email to our support email address.

The only time we re-bill students is when they are on a monthly payment plan — never more than the exact payment plan they sign up for, or without notice.

We do our best to respond to absolutely everyone and process refunds within 24 hours.

Chris, if you are legitimately our former student, I sincerely apologize for any communication issues that may have occurred between you and our operations team.

      • I came across freemote yesterday and have been doing research, because this is something I’m very interested in doing. As someone who is a bootcamp graduate struggling to get my first job in tech with no history of work experience in the field. My only concern is the price.

I know when this originally started the price was $750 and it has gone up since due to hiring mentors, programmers to help review your code, coaching, and time from Aaron and Jan. Upon speaking with a mentor yesterday, via google meet, I was told the program is now priced at 4k. I would receive a discount of $1,500 which expires today at midnight. This leaves me with having to make a rushed decision. Which left me feeling skeptical, as I could not find a formally listed price prior to speaking with the mentor, who only then gave me a link with the listed price of 4k including my discount.

        Screen capture provided:

After reading this article, that was posted 5 days ago, stating the current price of the program is $1,659 I’m not sure what to believe. Additionally while reading through the FAQ, looking for information regarding payments, I found the FAQ clearly states “Out of fairness to students who have already invested in our program, we have just a single price for everyone

This means unfortunately, we don’t hand out discounts on request. (Even if you’re living in a lower income country, a student, or a veteran)

If paying is a challenge, we suggest using the monthly payment plan option at checkout.”

        Screen capture provided:

I’ve seen many Reddit posts, including this article, that Aaron Jack does respond to users. So in turn I am hoping that you will respond to me about this program, because I’m still interested but skeptical and I feel like this is a question that should be answered to the general public.

  2. I was hooked until I read the amount for this boot camp. I wished they offered the ability to pay as you earn that is not set up on a monthly subscription. I feel they need to stand behind thier beliefs of high earning potentials and create a way to pay per job landed. Not sure if that would be at all possible but thier has to be some way to “code-out” this problem.
I heavily rely on reviews before buying a product and or service.
This was also the turning point for me as it lacked luster. I am old school and would rather see daily or weekly reviews that was not from thier video highlights of current and prior students.
I would re-consider joining if they were able to design a way to pay per job landed. They would actually be paid faster on thier tuition. I would most definitely be posting daily and weekly reviews on thier behalf of my positive experiences.
