You may be wondering if you should read the book. This book review will tell you what important lessons you can learn from this book so you can decide if it is worth your time.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

Big Weed Book Summary

Lesson 1: Many people still view marijuana negatively.

In recent years, public opinion about marijuana in the United States has changed. However, this does not mean that everyone agrees that it should be legalized; many people consider drugs in general to be harmful.

Why has the public stigma associated with marijuana remained so strong?

Legalization is fraught with complications, not the least of which is the continued stigmatization of marijuana as a drug of criminal origin, even though the drug has long been an illegal substance.

You can assume that your friends who use marijuana are buying it from a dealer on the street if you have ever used it yourself or know someone who has. The stigma that marijuana is a gateway drug has not gone away. What’s to stop you from buying drugs from criminals and then trying even riskier drugs?

These are some of the main arguments that opponents of legalization keep making. When the author set up his own legal marijuana business, he ran into this very problem.

There was a lot of doubt among my circle of friends and colleagues. They were of the opinion that marijuana is consumed only by hippies and crooks.

Interestingly, political considerations were the reason for adding marijuana to the list of prohibited substances.

Although marijuana has been around for centuries, it was not until the twentieth century that political forces found reasons to restrict its distribution and consumption. (Even William Shakespeare, the legendary playwright, had a marijuana pipe in his gardens).

Politicians sought to outlaw cannabis as a convenient scapegoat for societal ills and a means to protect their own financial interests. They thought that spreading anti-marijuana propaganda and making possession or use of the drug illegal would help them gain power and generate revenue.

Even more surprising is the persistence of these campaigns in the face of mounting evidence from the scientific community that marijuana is not the social evil it has been made out to be.

In 1972, a Senate committee found that the use of marijuana does not produce physical tolerance in addicts. Moreover, the vast majority of people who have tried marijuana have not turned to more dangerous substances.

Nevertheless, this information was not heeded.

Lesson 2: To sell weed, it’s not enough to set up store in a hippie commune. A solid business plan is essential.

The first attempts to capitalize on the legalization of marijuana were unconventional, to say the least, as the drug was banned for a long time.

Many people who want to sell marijuana do nothing more than find a store, buy a product and set up store. As a result, most of them fail.

To succeed in the cannabis industry, you must proceed with the same strategic planning as you would with any other type of business. A successful business plan must be developed.

In the beginning, the author’s business plan was crystal clear: market marijuana so successfully that it becomes the next big thing in the United States.

You have to manage the marketing process and the cultivation process together.

Growing marijuana is challenging because the plants need a lot of sunlight. However, excessive light causes the surrounding air to become hot and humid, which is detrimental to plant growth. Purchasing an HVAC system for your grow room is a logical next step. The energy costs will be huge as a result!

The best way to reduce energy costs is to take a holistic perspective from the beginning. It is more cost effective to run one large air conditioner than several smaller ones. However, a large unit is only economical if a large amount of equipment is purchased.

The author had to learn this the hard way. After three unsuccessful harvests, he increased his production and finally found the optimal ratio of factors.

Since marijuana is still viewed with suspicion, it is up to you as a marijuana entrepreneur to help foster a culture where the use of marijuana becomes more commonplace and accepted. After visiting the Netherlands, where drug laws are stricter than in the United States but marijuana use is more socially accepted, the author has seen this phenomenon firsthand.

Lesson 3: A get-up-and-go mentality will not lead to success. Get to know your market and do your research.

You have decided to start a business selling weed. Imagine how nice it would be to do nothing but “test” your product all day.

You should not be so quick to do that. Think carefully about what you are doing before you make your first move. If you want to have any chance at all of making money in the marketplace, you need to educate yourself in every way possible.

First, find out as much as you can about your product.

There are a variety of uses for marijuana. Smoking is the most common practise, but not the most effective. The toxins released when the plant material is burned are inhaled directly into the lungs.

A better alternative is vaporizers, which heat the cannabis enough to release the inhalable cannabinoids into the air. For a more gradual effect, the drug could be baked into cookies or other foods. However, this is more difficult to administer in the correct dosage.

Next, research your target audience. Make a name for your product in the marketplace. A well-known and respected brand is essential for commercial success and customer loyalty in any market.

The author’s own brand is Green Man Cannabis. He wanted to dominate the market, so he made sure to brand every aspect of his business.

Last but not least, you need to know your target audience.

The goal of this work is to demystify marijuana and introduce it to a wider audience. With this goal in mind, he builds a commercial-scale marijuana farm to share his knowledge with the world.

Customers can learn more about Green Man and his cannabis products at Green Man Cannabis Ranch, which will include a shop, open greenhouse, atrium and patio.

And after you have invested time and effort to grow your business the smart way, be sure to take some time off now and then to bask in the glory of your accomplishments.

Lesson 4: The Federal Government’s position on marijuana is at odds with that of many states. When you run a business, you always have to be ready for any obstacles.

Business in the legal marijuana industry is business like any other industry. However, there is one area where legal marijuana businesses are excluded from the procedures that would otherwise apply.

Legal marijuana business owners, unlike most other business owners, cannot open a bank account into which they can deposit their earnings.

Because federal law and the laws of many states prohibit the use, possession, and distribution of marijuana, and federal law guarantees the safety of all deposits in U.S. banks, the federal government may prohibit anyone engaged in the marijuana business from opening or maintaining a bank account.

This is a major problem for the legal marijuana industry. They have to pay for utilities like electricity and gas with cold, hard cash. This is time-consuming and potentially dangerous because you often have to transport large amounts of cash.

It will likely take time for those involved in the legal marijuana industry to overcome the prejudice they face from state and federal authorities.

Law enforcement officials, legislators, and judges have likely been indoctrinated from an early age to view marijuana negatively. Therefore, it may take a while for these groups to be able to let go of their prejudices, even if marijuana is legalized.

However, the continued criminalization of marijuana only serves to exacerbate existing problems. Since the “war on drugs” began, both the number of police departments and prisons in the United States have skyrocketed. How prisons manage to house the estimated 800,000 people arrested and convicted of marijuana crimes each year is a mystery.

Unfortunately, there are powerful lobbies that have a vested interest in maintaining the current status quo of marijuana and drug criminalization.

Therefore, if you want to get into the legal marijuana industry, be prepared to face a variety of challenges.

Big Weed Book Review

Big Weed is a great book I’d like to recommend to anyone who is interested in the business of marijuana.

In the United States, the movement to legalize marijuana will continue to develop. Law enforcement agencies are also adapting to changing public opinion and new regulations on the marijuana industry. As marijuana becomes a legal industry, people may become more open and helpful with the drug and how to market and use it safely.

Whenever you find yourself in a debate about legalization, it’s important to keep the economics of both sides in mind. Are the costs of maintaining marijuana prohibition higher than the potential gains from taxing its use in your community?
